This dataset includes the Royal Australian Navy's quality controlled CTD data update for 2014. There are 12 directories containing a total of 1,291 netCDF files for submission, which were quality controlled at Marine Information Services, RAN Hydrography & Metoc Branch. Within each of these directories is also a text document called "README_data_quality.txt" which details quality control notes for the cruise.

This dataset includes discrete sample and profile data collected from LAURENCE M. GOULD in the Gulf of Guinea, South Atlantic Ocean and Southern Oceans (> 60 degrees South) from 2006-03-23 to 2010-11-02. These data include DELTA CARBON-13, DELTA CARBON-14, SALINITY and WATER TEMPERATURE. The instruments used to collect these data include CTD and bottle. These data were collected by Tom P. Guilderson of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory; Center for Accelerator Mass Spectrometry, Colm Sweeney and Tim Newberger of NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory (ESRL), and Johnny Stutsman and Paul D. Ocean pressure, temperature, and salinity data are reported from 85 CTD profiles acquired in the Bellingshausen Sea. These austral spring observations, taken along the continental shelf slope to a nominal depth of 500m (interspersed with a few full depth profiles), comprise a portion of several related data sets obtained during NBP07-09, from Punta Arenas to Punta Arenas, Chile. Additional sampling was undertaken for physical, geochemical and biological parameters of sea ice and upper ocean, as well as ocean currents and continuous underway mapping of sea surface properties, meteorological variables and bathymetry.
