Mercury exposure in piscivorous birds at the Carson River (NV) superfund site, 1997-2006
공공데이터포털
The persistence and degree of mercury contamination of the lower Carson River system (LCRS) have led to placement of a portion of the Carson River Basin (including Lahontan Reservoir) on the US. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) National Priorities List ("Superfund") for research and cleanup. The potential toxicity of mercury concentrations within the LCRS to piscivorous birds (snowy egrets, black-crowned night-herons, and double-crested cormorants) was examined from 1997-2006. This data set supports the following publications: Henny, C.J., Hill, E.F., Grove, R.A., Kaiser, J.L., 2007, Mercury and drought along the lower Carson River, Nevada- I. Snowy egret and black-crowned night-heron annual exposure to mercury, 1997-2006: Archives of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, v. 53, p. 269-280. Total mercury, methylmercury, and isotopic composition in various life stages of boreal chorus frogs (Pseudacris maculata) at two subalpine ponds in the Rocky Mountains, CO, USA, 2015
공공데이터포털
Mercury is an atmospherically transported contaminant found even in relatively pristine habitats. Once accumulated at the base of the food web, mercury can move between animals that are linked trophically. Pond-breeding amphibians may be particularly important vectors of mercury flux from remote freshwater to terrestrial systems because they feed on algae and detritus as tadpoles and metamorphose into insectivorous terrestrial adults where they carry out most of their remaining life cycle. However, it is still unclear how mercury concentrations change across life stages in complex life cycle amphibian species. The data presented here includes total mercury (THg), methylmercury (MeHg), and isotopic composition (δ13C, δ15N) in boreal chorus frogs (Pseudacris maculata) at two subalpine ponds in the Rocky Mountains, CO, USA. We sampled various life stages including breeding adults, eggs, tadpoles, metamorphs, and mid-summer adults.

Mercury concentrations, isotopic composition, biomass, and taxonomy of stream and riparian organisms in the vicinity of Yellow Pine, Idaho, 2015-2016 (ver. 2.0, July 2025)
공공데이터포털
This data release includes sampling location data; field-collected stream attribute data; laboratory-analyzed chemistry concentrations (total mercury, methyl mercury) and isotopic composition (total mercury, carbon, and nitrogen) for stream biota (seston, periphyton, benthic insects, emerging adult insects, riparian spiders, and fish); density, body length, and taxonomic information for benthic insects; and density, biomass, and taxonomic information for emerging adult aquatic insects for biota sampled from stream reaches up and downstream of an historical mercury mine site. Sampling took place during summer low-flow conditions in 2015 and 2016. Stream reaches were located on U.S. Forest Service land near the Cinnabar Mine Site in the vicinity of Yellow Pine, ID, USA. Version 2.0 includes an additional table which describes subsampling of the Hess samples during processing. All data on benthic macroinvertebrates derived from Hess samples should be interpreted using this information about proportion of sample processed.

Wetland water-management may influence mercury bioaccumulation in songbirds and ducks at a mercury hotspot data release
공공데이터포털
We examined the role of wetland water-management on mercury bioaccumulation in songbirds and ducks. This database contains records of mercury concentrations in blood of wetland-foraging songbirds (80 common yellowthroats [Geothlypis trichas] and 14 Nelson’s sparrows [Ammospiza nelsoni]) and eggs of upland-nesting ducks (28 gadwall [Mareca strepera], 19 blue-winged teal [Spatula discors], and 13 northern shoveler [S. clypeta]) across four wetland water-management classifications at Kellys Slough National Wildlife Refuge Complex, near Grand Forks, North Dakota USA.
