This dataset consists of discrete profile measurements of dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC), total alkalinity (TA), water temperature, salinity, nutrients and dissolved oxygen during the CCGS Vector Water Properties Survey cruise 2015-17 (EXPOCODE 18VT20150401) in the Strait of Georgia, Juan de Fuca Strait of the North American Pacific coast from 2015-04-01 to 2015-04-05. The samples were taken from rosette casts with 10L Niskin bottles and analyzed at the Institute of Ocean Sciences. Discrete samples of dissolved oxygen were also collected and analyzed onboard the vessel. CTD profiles were recorded with each rosette cast. DIC and TA samples were placed in cold storage for 5-6 weeks before analysis. A total of 76 DIC and TA pairs were sampled with a 17% replication rate; and the pooled standard deviations (of difference between replicate pairs) were calculated to be 0.9 µmol/kg and 2 µmol/kg respectively. The Strait of Georgia Water Properties Survey is a regular sampling program of 3 - 4 cruises per year; and additional data from cruises under this program will be submitted in the future.

This dataset includes dissolved inorganic carbon, pH on total scale, alkalinity, water temperature, salinity dissolved oxygen and nutrients collected from discrete samples and profile observations using during the R/V Ryofu Maru cruise RF12_06 (EXPOCODE 49UP20120726) in the North Pacific Ocean from 2012-07-26 to 2012-09-13. The instruments used to collect these data include CTD and Niskin bottle. These data were collected by Hitomi Kamiya and Kazuhiro Nemoto of Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) as part of the CLIVAR_P02.5_2012 dataset. The International CLIVAR Global Ocean Carbon and Repeat Hydrography Program carries out a systematic and global re-occupation of select WOCE/JGOFS hydrographic sections to quantify changes in storage and transport of heat, fresh water, carbon dioxide (CO2), and related parameters.

The WHP-P01 section was previously observed in 1985 by the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (USA), in 1999 by the Japan Fisheries Agency, the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC), the Institute of Ocean Sciences (Canada), and in 2007 by the JAMSTEC. This study was conducted under the Global Ocean Ship-based Hydrographic Investigations Program (GO-SHIP).

The Strait of Georgia Water Properties Survey is a regular sampling program of 3 - 4 cruises per year; and additional data from cruises under this program will be submitted in the future.
