NODC Standard Format Ocean Temperature Profile (C116) Data from Expendable Bathythermographs (XBT) (1965-1993) (NCEI Accession 9400121)
공공데이터포털
This collection contains temperature, depth, and other data collected using bathythermograph (XBT) casts from numerous platforms in oceans and seas around the world from 1965-07-28 to 1993-06-04. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC Ocean Temperature Profile (C116) Data from Expendable Bathythermographs (XBT) format. The data type C116 contained temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data record was comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. The XBT data files contained temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths were recorded at the minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to accurately define the temperature curve. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of either 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m.
NODC Standard Format Mechanical Bathythermograph (MBT/C128) Data (1941-1988) (NCEI Accession 9400122)
공공데이터포털
This collection contains temperature, depth, and other data collected using mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) casts from numerous platforms in oceans and seas around the world from 1941-06-04 to 1988-02-16. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC Mechanical Bathythermograph (MBT/C128) format. The C128 format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.
WATER TEMPERATURE and other data from CENTURY, SPRIGHTLY and other platforms from 1930-11-29 to 1980-10-28 (NCEI Accession 8300130)
공공데이터포털
Data has been processed by NODC to the NODC standard Bathythermograph (MBT) (C128), Bathythermograph (XBT) (C116), and Bathythermograph XBT Selected Depths (SBT) (C125) formats. The C116/C118 format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data record was comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. Unlike the MBT Data File, in which temperature values were recorded at uniform 5 m intervals, the XBT data files contained temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths were recorded at the minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to accurately define the temperature curve. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of either 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m. Prior to July 1994, XBT data were routinely processed to one of these standard types. XBT data are now processed and loaded directly in to the NODC Ocean Profile Data Base (OPDB). Historic data from these two data types were loaded into the OPDB. The UBT (C125) format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data records are comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. Depths are selected by the originator - usually at standard horizons or some fixed interval. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of either 450 or 760 m. Special instruments permitted measurements to be obtained to 1830 m.
NODC Standard Format Radio Message Bathythermograph (IBT/C110) Data (1972-1991) (NCEI Accession 9500109)
공공데이터포털
This collection contains temperature, depth, and other data collected using bathythermograph (BT/XBT) casts from numerous platforms in oceans and seas around the world from 1972-01-01 to 1991-01-01. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC Radio Message Bathythermograph (IBT/C110) data format. The IBT (C110) format is used for telecommunicated bathythermograph (principally XBT) data transmitted by ships at sea over the Global Telecommunications System in the Integrated Global Ocean Services System (IGOSS) BATHY format. These data are accumulated and transmitted to NODC from two U.S. operational centers: the NOAA National Meteorological Center (NMC) and the U.S. Navy Fleet Numerical Oceanography Center (FNOC). Like XBT data, IBT data temperature values are recorded at inflection point depths. The BATHY radio message allows for a limited number of depth-temperature pairs to be reported, however. Therefore, compared to delayed-mode XBT data, IBT data present a coarser representation of ocean temperature profiles.
