Carbon and Nitrogen Isotope Concentrations in Polar Bear Hair and Prey from the Alaska Beaufort and Chukchi Seas, 1978-2019
공공데이터포털
This dataset includes carbon and nitrogen isotope concentrations measured in polar bear hair and marine mammal prey muscle and blubber samples collected 1978-2019 in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas. Marine mammal prey samples were collected opportunistically either from polar bear seal kill sites or from marine mammals harvested by Native hunters, including ringed seal, bearded seal, gray whale, Pacific walrus, bowhead whale, beluga whale, spotted seal and ribbon seal. All prey samples were collected within the Alaska Beaufort or Chukchi Sea with the exception of gray whale samples that were collected in Chukotka. More specific information on the location in which prey samples were collected are provided within the data. Hair was collected from polar bears captured on the sea ice or land in the spring or fall from 1987-1989 and 2008-2017 in the Russia and/or Alaska portions of the Chukchi Sea and 1983-1989 and 2004-2016 in the Alaska Beaufort Sea. Whole hairs were analyzed for carbon and nitrogen isotopes. Prey samples were analyzed separately as blubber lipids, lipid-extracted blubber protein, bulk muscle, and lipid-extracted muscle. Not all tissues were available for all individual prey samples.

Fish Species Composition and Diet Information in Lakes of the Arctic Coastal Plain, Alaska, 2011-2013
공공데이터포털
This dataset provides information on fish species composition and their diet information for 16 lakes and 16 ponds at two locations on the central Arctic Coastal Plain, Alaska. In one table, we provide the presence of fish species and the total species count for each lake or pond sampled. This table also includes metrics of surface water connectivity to the stream network. In a second table, stomach content information is provided for fish collected during summer sampling periods (late June to mid-August) over three years (2011–2013). The third table includes stable carbon isotope and stable nitrogen isotope signature data for fish species and snails (the baseline organism) from 16 water bodies at one study location in 2013.

Arctic Cisco Stable Isotope Data, Prudhoe Bay, August 2009
공공데이터포털
This data set documents the carbon and nitrogen stable isotope ratios of age-0 Arctic cisco (Coregonus autumnalis) captured in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska in August 2009. The analysis of this data was published in von Biela et al. 2013 (Polar Biology 36:137-146, doi:10.1007/s00300-012-1244-x). All stable isotope results were provided by the University of Alaska Anchorage Environmental and Natural Resources Institute (ENRI) Stable Isotope Laboratory. The Stable Isotope Facility was led by Dr. Jeffery Welker and managed by Brian Cohn at the time of the analysis.

Dissolved methane and CO2 concentrations and stable carbon isotopes from the coastal Arctic landscape of the Greiner Lake watershed, Nunavut, Canada in June 2022 and June-July 2023
공공데이터포털
A watershed in the coastal Canadian Arctic was sampled for dissolved carbon dioxide and methane concentration and stable carbon (carbon-13) isotopes to trace the transport, production, and consumption of carbon dioxide and methane during the spring thaw across a lake to bay transect. Two field campaigns were conducted in June 2022 and June-July 2023 out of the Canadian High Arctic Research Station (CHARS) in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut, Canada. Gas samples were collected via headspace extraction and transported back to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center (WHCMSC), where they were analyzed utilizing the USGS Automated Sample Introduction Module (AutoSIM) interfaced to a Picarro G2201-i CRDS (Cavity Ring-Down Spectrometer) to measure concentrations and stable carbon isotope ratios of methane and carbon dioxide. Field sampling was carried out by researchers from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
