SAMPLE_PT: This dataset represents monitoring and sample locations (points). Monitoring is a generic term describing various kinds of assessments that the BLM makes on public land natural resources and/or management actions undertaken. The SAMPLE_PT dataset represents places where a measurement of some type has occurred. Examples of measurement types are: vegetation transects or plots, soil pit descriptions, and observations/photos of resource use or impact. This dataset also also provides BLM and the public with information about naturalness, opportunities for solitude and/or primitive recreation, supplemental values and proximity to Wilderness Areas or Wilderness Study Areas.

STRM_LOC_PT: The Stream Location Points dataset represents field collected spatial locations and basic information about the physical characteristics of a stream network, including inception points (stream origins), periodicity and continuity transitions, stream confluences, and complex stream courses.

FISH_RESIDENT_ARC: This feature class is used to determine whether a particular resident fish species is present in a stream, which can affect protection buffer widths in land management plans and activities. The data comes primarily from the Hydro Update Project, and is from actual observations or from modeled fish presence. While each district carried out their determinations in various ways, generally verification means that the fish biologist or other trained specialist was able to see the fish at the stream.

ACEC_DESIG_POLY: This polygon feature class contains BLM Designated Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACECs) polygons. These define areas within the public lands where special management attention is required to protect and prevent irreparable damage to important historic, cultural, or scenic values, fish and wildlife resources or other natural systems or processes, or to protect life and safety from natural hazards.

WLD_CHAR_ARC: This theme represents the results of an inventory of wilderness characteristics found, or not found, on BLM lands in Oregon and Washington. This data set shows the lines for polygons for areas found to possess wilderness characteristics, plus boundary lines for those areas that were intensively inventoried and found to not meet minimum wilderness criteria. All BLM lands outside of designated Wilderness Areas and Wilderness Study Areas are periodically evaluated for wilderness characteristics based on meeting minimum criteria for size, naturalness and outstanding opportunities for solitude or primitive and unconfined recreation. Where such inventories have been updated, those BLM lands not depicted by polygon lines were deemed to clearly lack wilderness characteristics in an initial scan of size and roadlessness to determine areas warranting more intensive inventory.

LWC_INVNTRY_POLY: This feature dataset represents the spatial extent and boundaries of inventoried and managed BLM Lands with Wilderness Characteristics. This dataset also also provides BLM and the public with information about naturalness, opportunities for solitude and/or primitive recreation, supplemental values and proximity to Wilderness Areas or Wilderness Study Areas. BLM Inventoried Lands with Wilderness Characteristics is consistent with Section 201 of the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA), which requires the BLM Colorado Inventoried Lands with Wilderness Characteristics is consistent with Section 201 of the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA), which requires the Secretary of the Interior to “prepare and maintain on a continuing basis an inventory of all public lands and their resource and other values,” and the BLM Land Use Planning Handbook, BLM Colorado has identified and begun an assessment of BLM-managed lands with wilderness characteristics outside of existing WSAs. BLM Manual 6310 - Conducting Wilderness Characteristics Inventory on BLM Lands, provides the guidance from which BLM performs the wilderness characteristic inventory process.
