River bathymetry cross sectional surveys and profiles on the lower Chetco River, Oregon, Summer and Fall 2016
River bathymetry surveys were collected in the summer and fall of 2016 along the lower Chetco River, Oregon. These surveys were collected using a real time kinematic global positioning system (RTK-GPS) and an echo sounder mounted on a motorboat and also behind a kayak at various cross sections and longitudinal profiles along the river. These datasets were collected in support of a funded effort investigating the cause of salt water intrusion that has taken place at the water intake facility for Harbor City, Oregon. The surveys were collected at sections approximately 0.4 river miles downstream to 0.8 river miles upstream of the Harbor City water intake structure and also at the city of Brookings water intake facility, located approximately 1.6 river miles upstream of the Harbor City intake structure.

Bathymetric and topographic surveys were collected along an approximately 5.7-kilometer reach of the Colorado River upstream from the USGS streamgage located near the Colorado River Road (Catamount) bridge. The surveys were collected using real-time kinematic Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers by USGS personnel between May 13 through September 9, 2021, using a combination of sonar and wading techniques. The wading surveys include point data that are provided as comma-delimited text files of northing, easting, elevation, and code. The sonar surveys include point data that are provided as comma-delimited text files of northing, easting, bed elevation, water-surface elevation, and depth. All spatial data are referenced horizontally to the North American Datum of 1983 (2011) and vertically to the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88). Grid coordinates are projected in Universal Transverse Mercator Zone 13 North and are represented in units of meters.

Single-beam Echosounder Bathymetry of the Willamette River, Oregon 2015-2018

River bathymetry measurements were collected in 2017 and 2018 along the Willamette River, Oregon, between Eugene and Newberg. These data were collected to complement a bathymetric lidar dataset collected in 2017 for the same section of river. In many deeper segments of the river channel, bathymetric lidar did not produce measurements of river bathymetry. To fill gaps in the bathymetric lidar dataset, USGS combined bathymetry data previously collected in 2015 and 2016 with newly collected survey data from 2017 and 2018. The bathymetric survey data acquired in 2017 and 2018 focused on filling gaps within the 2017 bathymetric lidar dataset. Bathymetry data were collected using a network based real time kinematic global positioning system (RTK-GPS) and single-beam sonar mounted to a motor-boat transom. This documentation describes a csv file containing the X, Y, and Z coordinates and associated quality-control metrics for data collected along the Willamette River between 2015 and 2018.
