Effluent-discharge dataset from the Outfall of the Nogales International Wastewater Treatment Plant, geographic NAD83 (Water Years 2012–2014 and 2016)
This dataset contains effluent-discharge data, in cubic feet per second, for the Santa Cruz location at the Outfall of the Nogales International Wastewater Treatment Plant (SC6, 312724110580501). The data were collected by personnel at the U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission using a pipeline flow meter. The data were recorded at a 30 minute interval for the period of 2012 to 2014 and a 15-minute for the period January 1, 2016 to October 31, 2016. Data were checked for erroneous data and were deleted from the record. The data were reported to USGS for the period of Water Year 2012–2016. Data are missing from the record for the period of July 7, 2014 to August 30, 2014 and November 6, 2014 through December 31, 2015.

This dataset contains E. coli data collected at the Outfall of the Nogales International Wastewater Treatment Plant (NIWTP; SC6, 312724110580501) by U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC) personnel. The IBWC collects discrete samples at the Outfall of the NIWTP daily or weekly by dipping a 100 mL sterilized IDEXX bottle in the centroid of flow. Samples are kept chilled and shipped to Turner Laboratories Inc. or Legend Technical Services Inc. Both laboratories use standard method 9223B for E. coli analysis, which uses the Colilert™-24 (Colilert) and Quanti-Tray®/2000 (Quanti-Tray) system. The holding time specified for wastewater is 30 hours. The dataset is a compilation of multiple paper records. E.coli concentrations reported as 0 most probable number (MPN) per100 mL were qualified as less than the 1 MPN/100mL specified by the Colilert test. The datasest includes E. coli concentration data for the period of June 01, 2009 to March 31, 2015.

The pressure transducer was mounted to a metal post secured in the stream near the right bank. The data were recorded using non-vented Solinst Levelogger for the period of February 12, 2015 to December 31, 2016. The data were logged continuously at a 15-minute interval and manually downloaded. Data were corrected with the atmospheric pressure collected from a Solinst Barologger located at SC14 and checked for erroneous data.

This product consists of a table of annual discharge estimates in millions of gallons per day from wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) for 1,518 watersheds in the conterminous United States. The data are based on information extracted from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Clean Watersheds Needs Survey. The data are for 13 time periods, beginning in 1978 and ending in 2012. Total nitrogen and phosphorus loads from WWTPs per watershed for each year are also provided, based on previously published data (Falcone, 2017).

This data release contains three different datasets that were used in the Scientific Investigations Report: Spatial and Temporal Distribution of Bacterial Indicators and Microbial Source Tracking within Tumacácori National Historical Park and the Upper Santa Cruz River, Arizona, 2015-16. These datasets contain regression model data, estimated discharge data, and calculated flux and yields data. Regression Model Data: This dataset contains data used in a regression model development in the SIR. The period of data ranged from May 25, 1994 to May 19, 2017. Data from 2015 to 2017 were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey. Data prior to 2015 were provided by various agencies. Listed below are the different data contained within this dataset: - Season represented as an indicator variable (Fall, Spring, Summer, and Winter) - Hydrologic Condition represented as an indicator variable (rising limb, recession limb, peak, or unable to classify) - Flood (binary variable indicating if the sample was collected during a flood event or not) - Decimal Date (DT) represented as a continuous variable - Sine of DT represented as a continuous variable for periodic function to describe seasonal variation - Cosine of DT represented as a continuous variable for periodic function to describe seasonal variation Estimated Discharge: This dataset contains estimated discharge at four different sites between 03/02/2015 and 12/14/2016. The discharge was estimated using nearby streamgage relations and methods are described in detail in the SIR . Mean daily flux was calculated when mean daily discharge was available at a corresponding streamgage. Instantaneous flux was calculated when instantaneous discharge (at 15-minute intervals) were available at a corresponding streamgage, or from a measured or estimated discharge value. The yields were calculated using the calculated flux values and the area of the different watersheds. Methods and equations are described in detail in the SIR.
