Northern elephant seal temperature cast data collected as part of the Tagging of Pacific Predators (TOPP) program from February 22 2004 to January 25, 2011 (NCEI Accession 0077805)
공공데이터포털
This dataset is a large collection of temperature casts recorded by fast-response archival time-depth recorder tags on northern elephant seals during their natural migrations. Only ascents (upcasts) were retained to ensure a similar format to traditional ship-based casts. Each file represents data from a single instrument on one adult female elephant seal. Temperature and depth data were obtained from data logging tags manufactured by Wildlife Computers (MK9 or MK10). Temperature and depth values are uncorrected, raw instrument readings. The position of each cast was estimated using a state-space model smoothing algorithm applied to the ARGOS satellite track of the seal. Position data were obtained from a combination of GPS loggers and ARGOS PTT transmitters manufactured by Wildlife computers (SPOT4, SPOT5, or MK10) or the Sea Mammal Research Unit (SMRU SRDL)). Position data were irregular in time and contained substantial spatial error. So, we estimated a position for each station by smoothing the data using the CRAWL package in R-Cran and then applied a linear interpolation for each station.

Ground, vessel, and photographic Northern Elephant Seal counts collected on the Pacific coast of North America from 1981 to 2023 (NCEI Accession 0307611)
공공데이터포털
Ground, vessel, and aerial counts of northern elephant seals at breeding sites in California and the California Channel Islands. Aerial surveys were conducted at 800-1400ft above ground level (AGL) with either film or digital camera and analyzed post survey by creating mosaics and counting individuals with 1-3 observers. Counts for northern elephant seals are collated into one CSV.

Biological, physical, and time series data collected from station nss 009 by University of Hawai'i at Mānoa and assembled by Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System (PacIOOS) in the from 2010-05-20 to 2011-01-31 (NCEI Accession 0277757)
공공데이터포털
This dataset contains biological, physical, and time series data in netCDF formatted files, which follow the Climate and Forecast metadata convention (CF) and the Attribute Convention for Data Discovery (ACDD). University of Hawai'i at Mānoa collected the data from their in-situ moored station named nss_009: PacIOOS Nearshore Sensor 009: Cetti Bay, Guam, in the . PacIOOS, which assembles data from University of Hawai'i at Mānoa and other sub-regional coastal and ocean observing systems of the U.S. Pacific Islands, submitted the data to NCEI as part of the Integrated Ocean Observing System Data Assembly Centers (IOOS DACs) Data Stewardship Program. Each month, NCEI adds to this dataset the data collected during the previous month. The nearshore sensors are part of the Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System (PacIOOS) and are designed to measure a variety of ocean parameters at fixed points. nss_009 was located approximately 70 meters offshore of Cetti Bay near Umatac on the southwest coast of Guam. The sensor package was mounted to the sea floor at approximately 3 meters depth. PacIOOS nearshore sensors monitor coastal water conditions to help provide early indications of potentially polluted run-off from storm drainage, sewage spills, and soil erosion from land-based waterways such as streams and other outflows that lead directly into the ocean.
WATER TEMPERATURE and other data from PACPRINCESS in the NE Pacific from 1988-07-17 to 1988-11-25 (NCEI Accession 8900009)
공공데이터포털
Data has been processed by NODC to the NODC standard Bathythermograph (XBT) (C116) format. The C116/C118 format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data record was comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. Unlike the MBT Data File, in which temperature values were recorded at uniform 5 m intervals, the XBT data files contained temperature values at non-uniform depths. These depths were recorded at the minimum number of points ("inflection points") required to accurately define the temperature curve. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of either 450 or 760 m. With special instruments, measurements can be obtained to 1830 m. Prior to July 1994, XBT data were routinely processed to one of these standard types. XBT data are now processed and loaded directly in to the NODC Ocean Profile Data Base (OPDB). Historic data from these two data types were loaded into the OPDB.
