Tabular geochronologic, geochemical, and isotopic data from igneous rocks in the Lane Mountain area, San Bernardino County, California

This dataset provides geochronologic, geochemical, and isotopic data for selected igneous rock samples collected in the Lane Mountain area about 20 kilometers northeast of Barstow, California, between the years 2014 and 2021. Uranium-lead (U-Pb) zircon geochronologic and whole-rock geochemical data were obtained for 62 samples of which 28 are from Permian to Triassic plutonic rocks and dikes, 24 from Late Jurassic plutonic rocks, 6 from Late Cretaceous plutonic rocks and dikes, and 4 from Miocene volcanic rocks. Rubidium-strontium (Rb-Sr) isotopic data were obtained for 8 Permian to Triassic samples, 9 Late Jurassic samples, and 4 Late Cretaceous samples. Oxygen isotope data were obtained for 2 Permian to Triassic samples, 6 Late Jurassic samples, and 2 Late Cretaceous samples. The dataset consists of six tables in csv (comma separated values) format: (1) sample localities and lithology; (2) SHRIMP-RG (Sensitive High-Resolution Ion Microprobe-Reverse Geometry) U-Pb zircon geochronologic data; (3) sample ages derived from the geochronologic data; (4) whole-rock geochemical data determined by ICP-AES-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy-Mass Spectrometry) and WDXRF (Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence); (5) whole-rock Rb-Sr isotopic data measured on a solid source mass spectrometer, along with calculations of the original 87Sr/86Sr isotopic ratios based on the measured data; and (6) whole-rock oxygen isotope determinations of delta 18O.

Detrital zircon U-Pb data for reconnaissance characterization of strata across the Intermountain West region of the United States

This document describes sedimentary rock samples and their associated detrital zircon U-Pb data that were collected to support geologic mapping and research initiatives within the context of the Geologic Framework of the Intermountain West Project. The data characterize the age and/or provenance of Neoproterozoic to Miocene strata exposed across the Intermountain West region of the United States, with outcrop locations distributed across parts of California, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. Most detrital zircon U-Pb data presented herein were acquired at the University of Arizona LaserChron Center (Tucson, AZ) between 2019 and 2024; a small subset of data was acquired at the U.S. Geological Survey Plasma Lab (Lakewood, CO) in 2021.

This data release includes laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICPMS) U-Pb zircon geochronology data from four samples collected from rock units located in the Spinney Mountain Quadrangle and the Guffey NW Quadrangle in Park County, Colorado. Samples were collected from gniess and granite rocks, and age data was used to support publication of updated maps by the Colorado Geological Survey.

Samples were collected from within alluvial fan strata and gravel-mantled hillslopes. Sample 16MANC2-01 was collected from an excavation into rounded fluvial gravel deposits along the Manastash Ridge. The unit collected includes Cascadian derived volcanic clasts and is interpreted as an inset terrace of fluvial strata deposited on the Manastash Ridge. Sample 16MANC1-06 is a rhyodacitic boulder collected on a nearby exposure of gravel mantled hillslopes along Manastash Ridge. Sample 16MRF01 was collected from a tephra deposited within alluvial fan strata along the Manastash Ridge range front. Sample 16MRF03 was collected from cross-bedded strata exposed along irrigation canals along he Manastash Ridge range front.

This dataset provides geochronologic and geochemical data for selected metasedimentary and associated rock samples collected in the Lane Mountain area about 20 kilometers northeast of Barstow, California. Geochronologic data were obtained for 24 samples, and geochemical data were obtained for 5 of these.
