Oceanographic data and information collected during the EX1705 American Samoa, Kingman/Palmyra, Jarvis (ROV & Mapping) expedition on NOAA Ship OKEANOS EXPLORER in the Pacific Ocean from 2017-04-27 to 2017-05-19 (NCEI Accession 0163984)
This dataset contains oceanographic data collected in several marine protected areas between Pago Pago, American Samoa and Honolulu, Hawaii. Operations included the use of the shipâs Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP), Scientific Computer System (SCS) data acquisition system designed for oceanographic and fisheries applications, and the shipâs high-bandwidth satellite connection for hourly data transfer, real-time ship to shore communications, real-time sonar control from shore, and real-time video streaming of sonar screens and shipâs cameras. Operations were conducted in American Samoa, the Cook Islands, the high seas, Kiribati, Hawaii, and the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monumentâs (PRIMNM) Jarvis Island and Kingman Reef/Palmyra Atoll Units. Data acquisition from shipboard sensors includes navigation data, meteorological data (wind, air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, radiation), and oceanographic data (thermosalinograph, remote temperature probe, sound velocity probe, bathythermograph).
