Data Set Description for Hyperspectral Imagery

The data set description provides a detail account of the type of data that is used within the peer-reviewed literature. The data involves special instrumentation, such as hyperspectral imaging cameras to develop thousands of pixels, which form images, like on a television screen. Other data is used to develop absorbance spectra from infrared spectrometers and compared to reference data to confirm the presence of a desired, tested chemical. Pesticide and transformation product concentrations and risk quotients in U.S. headwater streams

This dataset includes a subset of previously released pesticide data (Morace and others, 2020) from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Quality Assessment Program (NAWQA) Regional Stream Quality Assessment (RSQA) project and the corresponding hazard index results calculated using the R package toxEval, which are relevant to Mahler and others, 2020. Pesticide and transformation products were analyzed at the USGS National Water Quality Laboratory in Denver, Colorado. Files are grouped as pesticides (parent compounds), transformation products (degradate compounds), compounds with no Acute Invertebrate (AI) benchmarks, compounds with no Acute Non-Vascular Plant (ANVP) benchmarks, and compounds not evaluated through the toxEval R program. Grids of Agricultural Pesticide Use in the Conterminous United States, 1992

This spatial dataset consists of 199 1-kilometer (km) resolution grids depicting estimated agricultural use of 199 pesticides in 1992 for the conterminous United States. Each grid cell value in the national grids of this dataset is the estimated total kilograms (kg) of a pesticide applied to row crops, small grain crops and fallow land, pasture and hay crops, and orchard and vineyard crops within the 1- by 1-km area. Nonagricultural uses of pesticides are not included in this dataset. Of the 199 pesticides represented in the grids, 92 are herbicides, 58 are insecticides, and 32 are fungicides. The remaining 17 grids are composed of the category "other pesticides", which consists of fumigants, growth regulators, and defoliants. Although this data set is referenced to 1992, it generally represents a composite of estimated pesticide use during the early 1990s.
