This report presents trends of estimates for measures of substance use and mental health based on the combined 2010 and 2011 and the combined 2011 and 2012 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health (NSDUHs). Topics covered include past month substance use (e.g., illicit drugs, marijuana, cocaine, pain relievers, alcohol, tobacco), substance dependence, abuse, and treatment need, past year serious mental illness (SMI), any mental illness (AMI), suicidal thoughts, and major depressive episode (MDE). Resuts are provided for five age groups: 12 to 17, 18 to 25, 26 or older, 18 or older and all persons 12 or older.
