This data release contains a mark-resight encounter history table for Pacific and Yellow-billed loons from the Arctic Coastal Plain in northern Alaska, 2011-2014.

This data set contains information (in two spreadsheets) from the monitoring of nests of Pacific, Yellow-billed and Red-throated loons at two 64 km2 sites in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (NPR-A) during the summers of 2011-2014. We categorized each nest site by the physical aspects of the lake and proximity to other nesting loons. To determine nest fate (incubating, nest successful, nest failed), nests were revisited and inspected at least once a week. During each nest visit, we estimated embryo development (to predict hatch dates) by floating eggs. Nests were considered successful if one or more chicks hatched.

This dataset contains nesting and behavioral data of Pacific and Yellow-billed Loons collected in the Fish Creek Watershed of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (NPR-A) in 2016 and 2017. The data are provided in four packages for download organized by sampling site and year. The packages include tables with loon nest site characteristics, nest cameras, behavior during nesting and helicopter overflights, predators, nest survival and fate, and brood observations.

This data set contains biological resource data for seals, porpoises, otters, and whales in coastal Southeast Alaska. Vector polygons in this data set represent locations of marine mammal concentrations and haulout sites. Species-specific abundance, seasonality, status, life history, and source information are stored in relational data tables (described below) designed to be used in conjunction with this spatial data layer.This data set comprises a portion of the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) data for Southeast Alaska. ESI data characterize the marine and coastal environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources.
