Water Temperature, conductivity, and currents data collected by CTDs and current meters on moored buoys in the Sermilik Fjord, Greenland from 2012-09-18 to 2013-08-20 (NCEI Accession 0127325)
The data included in this dataset were collected in the Sermilik Fjord, located in East Greenland in the Ammassalik district close to the town of Tasiilaq. Data collection was conducted by deploying five moorings from September 2012 to August 2013. One mooring was not recovered. The four recovered moorings were named CM0, CM1, CM5, and SF4. Mooring CM0 was located mid-fjord at a depth of 125 meters and was equipped with an SBE MicroCAT, an RBR DR-1050, and an Onset U-22 ProV2. Mooring CM1 was located next to CM0 at a depth of 125 meters. It was equipped with an SBE MicroCAT, an RBR DR-1050, and an Onset UTBI-001 TidbiT. Mooring CM5 was located outside of the fjord entrance at a depth of 290 meters. It was equipped with an SBE MicroCAT and a Nortek Aquadopp. Mooring SF4 was positioned in the middle of the fjord at a depth of 880 meters. Data collected from this mooring included two RBR XR-420s, ten Onset UTBI-001 Temperature Loggers, two SBE MicroCAT, an RBR DR-1050, a Nortek Aquadopp, and an RDI LR-ADCP.

The data included in this dataset were collected in the Sermilik Fjord, located in East Greenland in the Ammassalik district close to the town of Tasiilaq. Data collection was conducted by deploying six moorings from August 2011 to September 2012. The seven moorings were named CM1SF5, CM2SF6, OE1, OW1, SF1, SF3, and SF4. Mooring CM1SF5 was located mid-fjord at a depth of 129 meters and was equipped with an SBE MicroCAT. Mooring CM2SF6 was located next to CM1SF5 at a depth of 265 meters. It was equipped with an SBE MicroCAT. Two moorings were positioned outside the fjord, OE1 was located on the east side of the fjord entrance at a depth of 255 meters and OW1 was located on the west side at a depth of 252 meters. Mooring OE1 was equipped with an RBR DR-150 Depth Recorder, five Onset UTBI-001 TidbiT Temperature Loggers, and an RBR XR-420 CTD. Mooring OW1 was outfitted with only an SBE MicroCAT. Mooring SF1 was located at the north end of the fjord at a depth of 630 meters. Data recovered from this mooring included three SBE MicroCAT and an RDI ADCP. Mooring SF3 was positioned near the glacier at a depth of 15 meters and was outfitted with an SBE MicroCAT and an Onset UTBI-001 Tidbit Temperature Logger. Mooring SF4 was positioned in the middle of the fjord at a depth of 860 meters. Data collected from this mooring included two RBR XR-420s, five Onset UTBI-001 Temperature Loggers, one SBE MicroCAT, and an RDI ADCP.

It contained a Microcat, an Aquadopp, and four TidbiT temperature loggers. Mooring CM5 was located outside the fjord on the shelf at a depth of 262m and was equipped with a Microcat, an Aquadopp, and seven TidbiT temperature loggers. Mooring SF3 was located near the glacier at a depth of 13m with a Microcat. Mooring SF4 was located near the mouth of the fjord at a depth of 600m and was equipped with three Microcats and an Aquadopp.

The data included in this dataset were collected in East Greenland in the Sermilik Fjord, located in the Ammassalik district close to the town of Tasiilaq, and at the Kangerlussuaq Glacier. Data collection was conducted by deploying eleven moorings from August 2009 to August 2010. One mooring was not recovered until September 2012 and three moorings were never recovered. The recovered moorings located in the Sermilik Fjord were named CM1, CM3, CM5, CM6, and SM3. The recovered moorings located at Kangerlussuaq Glacier were GP1, GP2, and GP3. The moorings were equipped with SBE MicroCATs, Onset UTBI-001 TidbiTs, Nortek Aquadopps, RBR DR-1050s, and RBR XR-420s.

The data included in this dataset were collected in the Sermilik Fjord, located in East Greenland in the Ammassalik district close to the town of Tasiilaq. Data collection was conducted during the summer of 2008 in separate legs. During the first leg, which took place during July 2008, two moorings were deployed; one at a depth of 185 meters and one at a depth of 25 meters. The deeper mooring was equipped with one RBR DR-1050 depth recorder, 10 Onset UBTI-001 Temperature Loggers, and one SBE-37(P) Microcat. The shallow mooring was equipped with one RBR DR-1050 depth recorder and one SBE-37(P) Microcat. These moorings were deployed on July 6, 2008 and were recovered on September 1, 2008. The second leg of the data collection, which took place in September 2008, also deployed two moorings at the same locations as the July moorings. Each of these moorings was equipped with one SBE-37 (P) Microcat. These two moorings were deployed on Sept 3, 2008. The shallow mooring was recovered on August 20, 2009 and the deep mooring was recovered on November 16, 2011. The purpose of this data collection was part of an exploratory project whose long term goals were to: 1) quantify the (liquid) fresh water flux out of Sermilik Fjord, and 2) determine what water masses flow into the fjord. In particular, if the warm, Atlantic water (Irminger Water) which is found off the slope, is able to penetrate into the fjord.

Thirty-one temperature and salinity profiles from Sermilik Fjord in East Greenland, close to the town of Tasiilaq. The profiles were collected with a Seabird SBE25plus CTD (#0251108) during August 2015 from the research vessel Adolf Jensen. The profiles are 1-m bin averages. The profiles form an approximate along-fjord transect; a handful of profiles were collected on the shelf outside of the fjord. These data were collected as part of a project that monitors Sermilik Fjord to determine what water masses flow into the fjord; in particular, if warm, Atlantic water from the Irminger Sea is able to penetrate into the fjord. Data are in netcdf format.

Currents and CTD data were collected using moored current meter casts in Boca de Quadra and Smeaton Bay, Alaska, from August 5, 1980 to August 1, 1981. Data were submitted by University Of Alaska - Fairbanks; Institute of Marine Science as part of the BORAX project. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Current Meter Data (F015) format. The F015 format is used for time series measurements of ocean currents. These data are obtained from current meter moorings and represent Eulerian method of current measurement, i.e., the meters are deployed at a fixed point and measure flow past a sensor. Position, bottom depth, sensor depth, and meter characteristics are reported for each station. The data record comprises values of east-west (u) and north-south (v) current vector components at specified date and time. Current direction is defined as the direction toward which the water is flowing with positive directions east and north and negative directions west and south. Data values may be subject to averaging or filtering and are typically reported at 10-15 minute time intervals. Water temperature, pressure, and conductivity or salinity may also be reported. A text record is available for optional comments.

This data package is comprised of discrete in-situ measurements of water temperature, conductivity, pressure and calculated salinity taken by CTD and current velocity taken by ADCP and acoustic current meters from the Agulhas System Climate Array (ASCA) sub-surface mooring array, from 2016-04-10 to 2018-06-10. Each file in the set represents a single instrument's complete time series record, along with the nominal instrument depth and mooring latitude/longitude. The data have been calibrated and edited to remove outliers. Data are in NetCDF.

A mooring was deployed at a depth of 3100 meters in the Lofoten Basin of the Nordic Seas with the aim of measuring water properties and currents over a two-year period. There were two mooring deployments: the first from July 2010 to May 2011 and the second from May 2011 to September 2012. The moorings were equipped with SBE-37SM MicroCATs, Nortek Aquadopps, and TRDI ADCPs.

This dataset consists of helium and tritium data submitted by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) as part of the Transient Tracers in the Ocean Funding Organization (TTO) North Atlantic Survey and NATS (North Atlantic Tracer Section) programs. The TTO data was collected during 7 legs of the R/V Knorr from April to October 1981. The NATS data was collected during legs 1-3 of the Atlantis from June to September 1981. The TTO program has reference number L00944 and the NATS program has a reference number of L00945. These programs were supported by NSF grants OCE79-21378 and OCE81-17998.

Temperature, pressure, east-west current component, north-south current component, fluorescence, and other data were collected using moored buoy and profiling floats in the North Atlantic Ocean and North American Coastline-South from October 3, 1972 to July 13, 1973. Data were submitted by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution as part of the International Decade of Ocean Exploration / Mid-Ocean Dynamics Experiment (IDOE/MODE). There is an analog file available.
