DSNY Zones
This dataset contains a shape file of DSNY Zones. For operations management, the NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) divides the City into seven operation zones (Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn North, Brooklyn South, Queens West, Queens East, and Staten Island). These zones are further divided into 59 Sanitation Districts. The boundary for each DSNY district is congruent with NYC Community District boundaries.

DSNY Waste Characterization 2023 - Subsort Results
공공데이터포털
The NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) conducted the 2023 Waste Characterization Study in the Fall of 2022 and Spring of 2023. The 2023 Study determined the waste composition of several major sources from which DSNY collects: residential households, New York City Public Schools, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), and on-street litter baskets. Waste from these generators was categorized into 96 main material categories. In addition to the 96 sort categories, certain material groups were further subsorted into 826 subsort categories which are provided in this dataset by residential strata and time period. Because not all the main material categories were subsorted, there are two separate datasets — one for the main sort results and one for the subsort results. Results for both datasets are presented in absolute terms as the quantity by weight of each material type, per stream. The quantity of each material is calculated by applying the percent composition to the total quantity of specified DSNY collections.

DSNY Waste Characterization - Comparative Categories
공공데이터포털
The NYC Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has conducted four waste characterization studies to date: 2005, 2013, 2017, and 2023. This dataset contains the main categories used in all four studies as well as the comparative categories used to consolidate material types over time.
Transit Zones
공공데이터포털
The Transit Zones dataset is composed of areas related to the Greater Transit Zone. The Greater Transit Zone is broken up into separate areas where special rules governing residential parking are applied. The Greater Transit Zone is composed of the following areas: • Manhattan Core and Long Island City parking areas: No parking required. • Inner Transit Zone: No parking required. • Outer Transit Zone: Some parking required. Certain housing types do not require parking. • Special ZR# 25-241 Parking Provision areas: Parking required. Affordable housing has significantly less required parking than market rate housing and certain housing types have no requirement. Beyond the Greater Transit Zone areas are not within the Greater Transit Zone. Parking is required but affordable housing has less required parking than market rate housing and certain housing types have no requirement. The boundaries for the Greater Transit Zone for Qualifying Residential Sites differs from the defined Transit Zones where they overlap with Special Coastal Risk Districts. (See the Greater Transit Zone for Qualifying Residential Sites dataset at https://data.cityofnewyork.us/d/vhqf-adkz).

DSNY Litter Basket Inventory
공공데이터포털
Please note: The data infrastructure for this dataset is being updated. The dataset currently posted is accurate as of April 2024 Locations and types of refuse litter baskets tracked by DSNY. This data is collected through periodic surveys by DSNY field personnel. Each record represents the approximate location, ownership, and physical type of a single refuse litter basket. Litter basket locations are subject to frequent change, for reasons that include but are not limited to: litter basket damage, nearby construction, graffiti, or regular illegal use of basket for household or commercial waste. There is often a lag time between a change in basket type or location and the reflection of that change in this dataset. This dataset includes information on BID-owned and Privately-owned litter baskets. Non-profit and private entities wishing to place a litter basket on a public street must receive permission from the Department of Sanitation. Location data for these baskets may be less accurate than for baskets that are owned by DSNY. This dataset does not track public litter baskets placed by other City, State, or Federal agencies, notably the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation. Recycling baskets are also not tracked in this dataset.
