Estimates of salinity using specific conductance measurements in Caño Boquerón, Cabo Rojo, and Puerto Mosquito, Isla de Vieques; Puerto Rico, July 2015 to July 2016.
The dataset includes estimates of salinity using specific conductance measurements at 1) Caño Boquerón, Cabo Rojo, and 2) Puerto Mosquito, Isla de Vieques; Puerto Rico for the period from July 2015 to July 2016. This dataset is part of a limnological analysis at Caño Boquerón and Puerto Mosquito to assess the principal factors affecting the hydrology and water-quality conditions. In addition, the study provides baseline information to regulatory agencies responsible for the management and conservation of coastal waters in Puerto Rico. The investigation focused on Caño Boquerón (disturbed conditions); and Puerto Mosquito (undisturbed conditions). Monthly measurements of specific conductance were collected at both locations.

Secchi disk depth was measured monthly at Caño Boquerón, Cabo Rojo, and Puerto Mosquito, Isla de Vieques; Puerto Rico for the period from July 2015 to July 2016. This data release is part of a limnological analysis at Caño Boquerón and Puerto Mosquito to assess the principal factors affecting the hydrology and water-quality conditions. In addition, the study provides baseline information to regulatory agencies responsible for the management and conservation of coastal waters in Puerto Rico. The investigation focused on Caño Boquerón, and Puerto Mosquito surface-water bodies, representing disturbed and undisturbed conditions, respectively.

This dataset consists of a shapefile of points corresponding to water depth collected for the bathymetric survey of Caño Boquerón, in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, conducted on August 21, 2015. The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board, conducted a limnological study at Caño Boquerón, in Cabo Rojo to assess the principal mechanisms affecting the hydrology and water quality characteristics. The study characterized hydrologic and physical-chemical properties, sediment deposition rates, bathymetry, and biological conditions. The bathymetric survey system used for the study consisted of coupling a global positioning system (GPS) device with a water depth sounder. Established navigation lines were used to simultaneously collect the water depth and geographic location data using a bathymetric system. A bathymetric map was generated by transferring collected data into a geographic information system (GIS).
Imputed daily salinity and associated covariates to support statistical modeling for 91 salinity monitoring sites in the northern Gulf of Mexico

Imputed salinities from either salinity or specific conductance observations and covariate data in data structures deemed suitable for statistical modeling of salinity in near-coastal environments of the northern Gulf of Mexico are provided for 15 salinity groups. The data herein were created by the 'covardr2formodel.R' script of 'covESTUSAL software' (Asquith and others, 2023), which represents terminal decisions on variable setup and transformations. The design ideal is data downloaded from this data release would be used in some path of “input” within statistical modeling software. Copious documentation of the decision process for data assembly is provided by Asquith and others (2023).

This dataset contains water pressure, temperature, salinity, density, potential temperature, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll, and turbidity from CTD taken from the Brazilian Navy research vessel Cruzeiro do Sul in the Southwest Atlantic Ocean from 2015-04-01 to 2015-05-08. The deployment plan of CTD stations was based on the evaluation of the most probable sites of the presence of the mode water. Data are in ASCII format.
