Moored ADCP current data from deployment 2 of the Multi-disciplinary Ocean Sensors for Environmental Analyses and Networks (MOSEAN) project north of Hawaii 2004-2005 (NCEI Accession 0116094)
ADCP data were collected by sensors from seven deployments within 2004-2007 on the HALE-ALOHA mooring, a location about 100 km north of Oahu, Hawaii, USA. The HALE-ALOHA mooring supports the Hawaii Ocean Time-series program. The ADCPs were one of many instruments deployed for the Multi-disciplinary Ocean Sensors for Environmental Analyses and Networks (MOSEAN) project, lead by the Ocean Physics Laboratory (OPL) of the University of California at Santa Barbara. The MOSEAN project is funded by the National Oceanographic Partnership Program (NOPP). The main goal of MOSEAN is to develop and test relatively small, lightweight optical and chemical sensors for autonomous deployment. Each deployment lasted around six months. No data are available for deployment 1. Data quality is questionable for deployments 3-6 and thus are not archived at NODC. Only deployment 2 is of good quality and in the archive. The data were quality controlled by the OPL. MOSEAN SEACAT CTD data are provided in a separate NODC accession, 0115703.

Four high-precision sensor arrays at a conventional munitions disposal site off Waianae known locally as "Ordnance Reef" and one sensor array at a deep-water chemical munitions disposal site approximately 32 miles from Honolulu were deployed. In addition to providing data needed to determine where Pacific Ocean currents might carry munitions materials in the event of a release, the sensors help NOAA and University of Hawaii scientists study how munitions might be affected by the marine environment. The data are also used in an integrated observing and prediction system that monitors ocean circulation, water quality, and biological productivity off Oahu's south shore.

Current meter data were collected using moored current meter casts and other instruments in the Northwest and Southwest Pacific Ocean from October 1, 1992 to March 15, 1993. Data were submitted by First Institute of Oceanography as part of the Coupled Ocean-Atmosphere Response Experiment (COARE). Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Current Meter Data (F015) format. The F015 format is used for time series measurements of ocean currents. These data are obtained from current meter moorings and represent Eulerian method of current measurement, i.e., the meters are deployed at a fixed point and measure flow past a sensor. Position, bottom depth, sensor depth, and meter characteristics are reported for each station. The data record comprises values of east-west (u) and north-south (v) current vector components at specified date and time. Spatial and temporal measurements of meteorologic, oceanographic, and sedimentological data were made during the 2010-2011 winter in Pelekane and Kawaihae Bays, on the Kohala coast of the northwest side of the Island of Hawaii. This data set consists of the oceanographic measurements at depths of 2 to 15 m made by the US Geological Survey. Bottom-mounted oceanographic instrument packages were deployed along the 5-m and 15-m isobaths, as well as a cross-shore array in the central region of Kawaihae Bay. This cross-shore array included three bottom-mounted oceanographic instrument packages on the 2-m, 5-m, and 15-m isobaths, and two moorings on the 5-m and 15-m isobaths.
