Environmental conditions in the Andreafsky River at Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska

Daily climate and water condition data taken at the Andreafsky weir for each day the weir ran from the years 2015 through 2023. Protocol was standardized and two readings were taken for air temperature, water temperature, stage height, once in the morning and evening. NA denotes that a reading was missing for that day. Data was compiled from in-season data sheets.

Data represent physical (water quality) and biological (fish, macroinvertebrate, and vegetation community) collections as indicators for Pool 1A and the Maankiki Marsh North and South units at the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge in Saginaw, MI, USA. The Maankiki North and South units were recently reconnected to the Shiawassee River in 2018, whereas Pool 1A represents a historically reconnected wetland. All data were collected in 2020.

This data set is the result of the investigation on the response of littoral and floodplain vegetation and soil moisture flux to weir pool raising in 2015. The data was collected over 18 months between August 2015 and December 2016- before, during and after the weir pool levels were raised. The data set contains information on Tree Condition including crown extent and density, bark form, epicormic growth and state, reproduction, crown growth, leaf die off and damage, and mistletoe. Leaf Water Potential, taken predawn and in the middle of the day. Plant Area Index/Canopy Cover measurements using hemispherical photos. Soil Chemistry measurements- total soil moisture (gravimetric water content; %), soil suction (or soil matric potential), Electrical Conductivity and soil pH.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), collects data pertaining to the surface-water resources of Missouri. These data are collected as part of the Missouri Ambient Water-Quality Monitoring Network (AWQMN) and are stored and maintained by the USGS National Water Information System (NWIS) database. These data constitute a valuable source of reliable, impartial, and timely information for developing an improved understanding of the water resources of the State. Water-quality data collected between 1993 and 2017 were analyzed for long term trends and the network was investigated to identify data gaps or redundant data to assist MDNR on how to optimize the network in the future. Provisional and final data can be accessed from the NWIS external link for 2014, 2017, and 2020. Certified raw data for 2020 are attached.

This dataset represents preliminary outputs from the pilot project to develop long term aquatic health and climate change monitoring program at Refuges that was implemented in 2014. These are archive copies of the data from the pilot project. See the IR9: Aquatic Health and Climate Change: Long-term Monitoring Project (ServCat reference ID:132454) for data from ongoing long-term monitoring starting in 2022. The long-term dataset incorporated all continuous measures from the pilot project. The long-term dataset has data from 2014-last compilation (2018).
