This dataset includes only those expenditures paid for by city revenue, also known as the General City Budget. The three proprietary departments (Port of LA, Department of Water and Power, Los Angeles World Airports) and non-budgetary departments (Library, Recreation and Parks, City Employee's Retirement Fund) operate at least partly from independent revenue sources. The City-Parish operating budget is supported by various revenue streams such as sales/use and property taxes, fees that range from occupational licenses to sewer user fees, bond sales, interagency transfers, and more. Projected revenues are used to responsibly develop the City-Parish budget each year with actual revenues collected throughout the year used to deliver critical services, programs, and projects to Baton Rouge residents.
