Feed The Future Malawi Baseline Household Survey
The Malawi Population-Based Survey (PBS) provides a comprehensive assessment of the current status of agriculture and food security in seven districts in the Central and Southern Regions: Mchinji, Lilongwe, Dedza, Ntcheu, Balaka, Machinga, and Mangochi. The PBS was conducted from November 14 to December 22, 2012. The overall objective of the survey is to provide baseline on data living standards, nutritional status, and women's empowerment in agriculture in the Zone Of Influence. A total of 3,397 households in the ZOI were interviewed for the PBS, and these households were spread across 126 rural standard enumeration areas (SEAs) in the seven districts.

The Uganda Population-Based Survey (PBS) provides a comprehensive assessment of the status of agriculture and food security in 38 districts across eight regions of the country at the time of hte survey. The PBS was conducted from October 25 to December 30, 2012. The overall objective of the survey is to provide baseline data on living standards, nutritional status, and women's empowerment in agriculture in the Feed the Future Zone Of Influence (ZOI). The ZOI in Uganda comprises 38 districts across eight regions. A total of 2,566 households in the ZOI spread across 140 standard enumeration areas (SEAs) were interviewed. These households were in the targeted districts, which are the same SEAs within the ZOI from the Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) 2011.

The Mozambique Population-Based Survey (PBS) provides a comprehensive assessment of the current status of agriculture and food security in two provinces, Zambizia and Nampula. These areas were selected based on national estimates that indicate that the incidence of poverty, malnutrition, and stunting among children less than five years of age is disproportionately high. These provinces are adjacent to three of the country's main trade corridors: Nacala (linking Mozambique to Malawi and Zambia), Beira (linking Mozambique to Zimbabwe), and the N1 (key North-South road connecting Nacala and Beira corridors). The PBS was conducted in 2013 with a focus on Household Hunger; Women's Dietary Diversity; Children's Minimum Acceptable Diet;WEAI (Women's Empowerment in Agriculture Index);and Household Expenditure in the two provinces.
