GALILEO ORBITER JUPITER RAW MAGNETOMETER DATA V1.0
This data set contains raw magnetic field data acquired by the Galileo Orbiter magnetometer at Jupiter. The data set covers the time period from 1995-11-06T00:21:30 UT (Jupiter approach) until the end of mission (March 2003). The raw magnetometer data set includes various forms of data: recorded high time resolution, real-time survey (RTS), optimal averager (opt/avg), snapshot, and the calibration parameters required to generate processed data products. In addition corrected rotor angles and spacecraft relative clock and cone angles are provided to simplify future calibration and reprocessing of the data.

These data were acquired in the optimal averager (opt/avg) and real-time survey (RTS) modes beginning during the Jupiter approach and continuing throughout Jupiter orbital operations. The data set covers the time period from 1995-11-06T00:21:30 UT (Jupiter approach) until the end of mission (September 2003). Sampling rates are variable and depended upon the downlink capabilities. With few exceptions, the data are provided at the full downlink resolution. The data are provided in five coordinate systems (IRC, System III [1965], JSE, JSO, and JSM).

This data set contains high time resolution magnetic field vectors acquired by the Galileo magnetometer (MAG). It includes both satellite flyby and non-flyby data. These data were acquired in order to characterize various portions of the Jovian magnetosphere at high time resolution. The Galileo Magnetospheres Working Group (MWG) collectively acquired high time resolution data for short intervals in order to try and regain some of the magnetospheric science lost due to the low data rates of the phase 2 mission (no high gain antenna) mission. These observations are scattered in Jovian distance, local time, System III longitude, etc. in order to provide some insight into processes that may be active in different regions of the magnetosphere.

Pioneer 11 Fluxgate Magnetometer (FGM) data from the Jupiter encounter period between 1974-12-02T23:31:40.000 and 1974-12-03T11:12:16.000. The data set provides 5 minute magnetic field averages in both Inertial Heliocentric and System III (1957.0) coordinates, and spacecraft trajectory data in System I and System III (1957.0) coordinates.

The data were acquired in the optimal averager mode of the instrument. These are raw data provided in their original EDR form. Processing done internal to the instrument remains in the data set.

This data set contains the Galileo spacecraft trajectory data in three coordinate systems commonly used in the analysis of jovian magnetospheric data. These include System III (1965.0), Jupiter Solar Equatorial (JSE), and Jupiter Solar Magnetospheric (JSM) coordinates. The data are sampled every minute inside of 30 Jupiter radii, every ten minutes between 30 and 100 Rj, and every 30 minutes outside of 100 Rj. The data are derived from SPICE SP kernels which are archived at the NAIF Node of the PDS.
