This feature class resides within the BIOLOGY Feature Data Set of the Great Lakes - Straits of Mackinac - 2019 ESI Geodatabase. It contains vector polygons representing HABITATS data for the Great Lakes - Straits of Mackinac area of interest. The study area includes the Straits of Mackinac, nearby portions of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, and adjacent lands and waters in northern Michigan. The feature classes HYDROL and HYDROP contain vector lines and polygons representing the coastal shoreline and hydrography used in the creation of the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) for Great Lakes - Straits of Mackinac study area. The HYDROP (hydrography polygons) layer delineates the shoreline, and identifies areas as either Land or Water. The HYDROL (hydrography lines) layer includes features that are not captured in the HYDROP data layer, such as breakwaters, fenders, groins, jetties, and piers. The study area includes the Straits of Mackinac, nearby portions of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, and adjacent lands and waters in northern Michigan.
