Hapu'upu'u Ageing Dataset
Ryan Nichols (FBSAB LHP) collected this data set and it contains only information pertaining to Hypothordus quernus, Hapu'upu'u, Hawaiian grouper. It contains date, location, fish length (total), fish weight, otolith weight (grams), otolith length (mm), otolith width (mm) age group, and which sagittal was aged (right or left).

Life History Program Life History Estimates
공공데이터포털
This data includes life history estimates (e.g. length-at-age, maturity status) generated by PIFSC LHP. Included in this data set are samples from fishery dependent and independent sources. The regions covered in the data set are from the North and South Pacific Ocean including the Hawaiian, Samoan, and Marianas Archipelagos. It contains the information used in LHP completed studies.
Small-vessel Survey and Auction Sampling to Estimate Growth and Maturity of Eteline Snappers
공공데이터포털
Small-vessel Survey and Auction Sampling to Estimate Growth and Maturity of Eteline Snappers and Improve Data-Limited Stock Assessments. This biosampling project allows for the expansion of the underfunded field-sampling program at the Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) in the Main Hawaiian Islands and allows the PIFSC Life History Program (LHP) to more fully develop existing cooperative research connections with regional fishers and wholesale buyers. Under this grant, PIFSC has conducted small boat sampling operations around Oahu to target juvenile eteline snappers, Pacific Islands Fisheries Group fishermen were asked to collect specific sizes of whole fish and bring to LHP staff for processing, and a buyer at the United Fishing Agency (UFA) fish auction was contracted to target large fish and intermediate lengths to fully supplement the field and fisher collections. Bottomfish biosampling data is queried often to identify size and temporal gaps for each species and sample requests are updated accordingly.
Hapu'upu'u Reproductive Biology Data
공공데이터포털
Unique specimen "IDNumber" for over 750 specimens of Hawaiian grouper (hapu'upu'u, Hyporthodus quernus; family Epinephelidae) are included in this dataset. Each specimen has the following information associated with it: standard body length, body weight, and gonad weight metrics, date of collection, and both macroscopic & microscopic sexual identities and sexual maturation states (the latter based on E. DeMartini's examination of histological slides prepared by several outside contractors (Pathology Labs of Queen's Hospital & John Burns Medical School). All specimens were collected by hydraulic handlines from either NOAA research vessels or commercial bottomfish boats.
Pristipomoides filamentosus Size at Maturity Study
공공데이터포털
This data set contains information used to help determine median size at 50% maturity for the bottomfish species, Pristipomoides filamentosus in the Main Hawaiian Islands. Many specimens were collected from October 2007-December 2014; all specimens are included in the Bottomfish Sampling Data Data Set. Gonads were fixed and preserved in 10% Formalin for at least 3 months and histological slides were created using a cross-section of each gonad. Sex and maturation stage was determined for each specimen/slide.
CNMI Commercial Fisheries BioSampling (CFBS)
공공데이터포털
The main market sampling program in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) is the new biosampling program implemented in late 2010 on the island of Saipan. It is a joint Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) and industry project with a local environmental consulting firm doing most of the field work, data processing, and obtaining of life history samples. DFW is working up some of the life history samples for that aspect of the project. It is strictly a voluntary data collection system requiring ingenuity to obtain the participation of a large percentage of the main fish vendors on the islands of Saipan, Rota and Tinian. All catches are from the CNMI with some of them coming from up to 100 miles from Saipan. It is a census sampling program of 100% of the commercial harvest of a subsample of the trips landing during any sampling period. Due to logistics and resource limitations, the majority of sampling was initially (Dec 2010-late 2012) focused on the spearfish reef fish fishery on Saipan. This has since expanded to include information on the bottomfish fishery as well data from Tinian and Rota. Life history samples are also being collected on several species on reef fish and one deep bottomfish. These data are considered confidential.
Gill Net Fishing Log data collected during 1981-1983 Hokusei Maru research cruises in the main Hawaiian Islands
공공데이터포털
This data set contains gill net fishing data collected by the Hokusei Maru in 1981, 1982 and 1983, in waters around the main Hawaiian Islands. Length and weight of individual species were collected.
BioSampling Data from LHP Cruises
공공데이터포털
This data set includes separate bioSampling logs from each LHP Bottomfishing cruise in the Hawaiian, Samoa, and Mariana Archipelagos as well as a master file with all records. While the data have not changed from previous InPort records (see Node 10806), this is part of an effort to standardize and streamline all life history program databases for past and future cruises. These data to NOT contain biosampling measurements for fish caught in non-cruise-related activities (e.g. fish acquired from auction).
United Fishing Agency Fish Auction Sampling Data
공공데이터포털
Contains information collected such as: lengths, weights, sex, quantity, species, etc. from various bottomfish and pelagic species during frequent visits to the United Fishing Agency Fish Auction in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Lead-Radium Activity Ratios From Otoliths of Regional Bottomfishes
공공데이터포털
The data set contains lead-radium dating of opakapaka (Pristipomoides filamentosus) otoliths from recent and archival collections (1987-2009).
Cost Earnings Survey of NWHI Bottomfish Fleets (2003)
공공데이터포털
During May-August 2004, face-to-face interviews with owners and/or captains of all NWHI bottomfish vessels were conducted to collect primary information on costs of fishing operations in 2003. Information on physical characteristics of the vessels, motivation of fishermen, and other topics was also collected. Follow-up interviews were conducted in September 2004 and March-April 2005 to collect data missed during the first interviews. M. Pan and A. Griesemer conducted the project.
