MrSid compression 20:1 of mosaic of 2 Landsat Thematic Mapper 7 multispectral satellite images (bands 3, 2, 1) and 2 Landsat Thematic Mapper 5 (bands 3, 2, 1) for Katmai National Park and Preserve. This Katmai National Park and Preserve satellite image mosaic was created by the National Park Service Alaska Landcover Mapping Program. TM5 images from path/row 72/19 August 30, 1991 and path/row 71/19 September 3,1995 were used together with TM7 images path/row 70/19-20 August 16, 2000 to create this product. Coverage is complete for the entire Park.The mosaic was created using bands 3-red, 2-green,and 1-blue and results in a true color image of the Park. The TM image data was sampled for a 30m pixel. The original image was generated for the National Park Service in Alaska Albers NAD83 format. The mosaic is useful down to approximately 1:60,000. The eastern TM7 data exhibits better radiometric quality than the TM5 data. The expected geometric accuracy of the product is ± 50m.

The land cover grid data set is based on a supervised multi-spectral image analysis of Landsat TM5 and TM7 data, supported by field data, modeling, review of aerial photography, interim product review/feedback from NPS, and review/analysis of the other data layers included in the ArcView 9.1 WRST Land Cover Mapping Project. 28.5 meter pixel grid data set with 10062 grid values and associated land cover attributes representing the land cover classes mapped during the WRST Land Cover Mapping Project (2004-2007) completed by Geographic Resource Solutions and ABR Inc under contract with the National Park Service Alaska Regional Office (NPS-AKRO) as part of NPS's Land Cover Mapping Program.
