MIT D-Lab, in partnership with the Comprehensive Initiative on Technology Evaluation (CITE) at MIT, conducted an evaluation of Malaria rapid diagnostic tests (mRDTs). Malaria rapid diagnostic tests (mRDTs) offer a fast and accurate means of diagnosing malaria in settings where microscopy is unavailable or unreliable. This study aimed to understand the preferences and priorities of agents across the malaria RDT supply chain in Uganda on stocking the devices using multi-criteria decision analysis.

Data from basic and advanced Malaria Diagnostics Refresher Trainings (bMDRT and aMDRT, respectively) which PMI IM Tanzania facilitated in both Fiscal Year 2021 and Fiscal Year 2022. IM supported skills building to health care providers adding up to a pool of diagnostic supervisors in Zanzibar and Mainland Tanzania. IM worked with Zanzibar Malaria Elimination Program (ZAMEP) and NMCP to identify and select national and district level supervisors. IM Tanzania collaborated with ZAMEP, NMCP and National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) to identify and select district- level clinicians from government admitting facilities (health centres and hospitals) and from other government institutions to be clinical supervisors in their respective districts and establish a pool of national level supervisors. IM Tanzania supported the development of training materials for the Malaria Service Data Quality Improvement Supportive Supervision (MSDQI SS) package and trained 298 trainers and staff from central, regional and district levels.

Data from PMI Impact Malaria (IM) Malaria Diagnostic Refresher Training (MDRT). IM supported the training and capacity-building of laboratory technicians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on diagnostic management.

This data asset contains data from PMI Impact Malaria (IM) Basic Malaria Diagnostic Refresher Training (bMDRT). IM supported the training and capacity building of laboratory technicians in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on diagnostic management through six training modules on theory, parasite detection, parasite identification, parasite density, sensitivity, and specificity.

This data asset contains nECAMM data from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Impact Malaria (IM) selected participants to strengthen the capacities of microscopists in the provinces supported by PMI on the biological diagnosis of malaria in the laboratory for better patient care.

This data asset contains data from Impact Malaria (IM) microscopy training for laboratory technicians in Rwanda. IM supported the training and capacity building of laboratory technicians in numerous districts.

This data asset contains data from IM advanced MDRT. IM supported the NMCP to improve the performance of laboratory technicians in malaria microscopy according to WHO guidelines through a five-day advance MDRT. This training also allowed to prepare the participants to have their best performance at External Competency Assessment for Malaria Microscopists (ECAMM). The training included building skills theory and diagnostics procedures for malaria, parasite detection (PD), species identification (ID), and parasite counting (PC), as well as slide preparation, slide staining, use of malaria rapid diagnostic tests (mRDTs), biosafety, microscope maintenance, and improvement of QA measures according to national guidelines.

This data asset contains aggregated data from CDI Malaria Diagnostic Refresher Training, which was conducted in November 2019. Forty participants participated in the training. The training had six components, namely i) Theory, ii) Parasite Detection, iii) Parasite Identification, iv) Parasite Density, v) Sensitivity, and vi) Specificity. Participants were given a pre-test for each of these components to measure their knowledge before the training and a post-test after the training. This dataset contains participants’ score data (pre and post-test) for the six training components.

This data asset contains data from PMI Impact Malaria (IM) Basic Malaria Diagnostic Refresher Training (MDRT). IM supported the training and capacity building of laboratory technicians in North and Far North districts of Cameroon on diagnostic management through six training modules on theory, parasite detection, parasite identification, parasite density, sensitivity, and specificity. IM worked with the districts to identify the laboratory technicians to be trained.
