Mars surface image (Curiosity rover) labeled data set version 1
This data set consists of 6691 images spanning 24 classes that were collected by the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL, Curosity) rover by three instruments (Mastcam Right eye, Mastcam Left eye, and MAHLI). These images are the "browse" version of each original data product, not full resolution. They are roughly 256x256 pixels each. We divided the MSL images into train, validation, and test data sets according to their sol (Martian day) of acquisition. This strategy was chosen to model how the system will be used operationally with an image archive that grows over time. The images were collected from sols 3 to 1060 (August 2012 to July 2015). The exact train/validation/test splits are given in individual files. Full-size images can be obtained from the PDS at https://pds-imaging.jpl.nasa.gov/search/ .

Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) data products on this volume are nine Narrow Angle Camera images selected from orbits between 13 and 100; i.e., some images are from outside the Assessment Orbits range of 19-36. The images are in GIF format with detached PDS labels, and they have had some cosmetic corrections applied (see VOLINFO for description). As the images are large, reduced-size versions have also been included for browsing. To assist in locating the images on the planet, 'finder frames' have been provided; these are Viking Orbiter MDIMs showing the outlines of the MOC images in the context of the larger area. The locations of the MOC images are also shown on the Mercator and South Polar Stereographic orbit ground track maps below. (Note: MOC image files are named according to the form NAnnnnxx, where nnnn is the orbit number and xx is the image number within the orbit.)

This data set contains a total of 73,031 landmarks. 10,433 landmarks were detected and extracted from 180 HiRISE browse images, and 62,598 landmarks were augmented from 10,433 original landmarks. For each original landmark, we cropped a square bounding box that includes the full extent of the landmark plus a 30-pixel margin to left, right, top and bottom. Each cropped landmark was resized to 227x227 pixels, and then was augmented to generate 6 additional landmarks using the following methods: 1. 90 degrees clockwise rotation 2. 180 degrees clockwise rotation 3. 270 degrees clockwise rotation 4. Horizontal flip 5. Vertical flip 6. Random brightness adjustment

This data set contains archival raw, partially processed, and ancillary/supporting radio science data acquired during the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) mission. The radio observations were carried out using the MRO spacecraft and Earth-based receiving stations of the NASA Deep Space Network (DSN). The data set was designed primarily to support generation of high-resolution gravity field models for Mars and secondarily for estimating density and structure of the Mars atmosphere. Of most interest are likely to be the Orbit Data Files and Radio Science Receiver files in the ODF and RSR directories, respectively, which provided the raw input to gravity and atmospheric investigations, as well as the ionospheric and tropospheric media calibration files in the ION and TRO directories, respectively.
