SAFARI 2000 TRMM 3B-43 Monthly Precipitation, 1-Deg, 1999-2001
공공데이터포털
The purpose of the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) and TRMM Product 3B-43 is to provide a monthly, best-estimate precipitation rate and root-mean-square (RMS) precipitation error. These gridded estimates are on a one-calendar month temporal resolution and a 1-degree by 1-degree spatial resolution for the global band extending from 40 degrees south to 40 degrees north in latitude. Product 3B-43 combines two independent precipitation estimates, the daily-average adjusted GOES Precipitation Index (GPI) based on merged-infrared (IR) estimates (TRMM Product 3B-42) and the monthly accumulated Climate Assessment and Monitoring System (CAMS) or Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC) rain gauge analysis (TRMM Products 3A-45A and 3B-45B, respectively). During initial processing the CAMS data is used. During reprocessing, the GPCC data is used. The data set prepared for SAFARI covers the years 1999, 2000, and 2001. The data files are stored as yearly files of monthly images. The monthly images are stored in a band sequential [BSQ] format (one image after the other) within the yearly files. The files for each year thus contain 12 monthly images per file.

The data presented in this level 2 orbital product are rain rate estimates expressed as mm/hour determined from brightness temperatures (Tbs) obtained from the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) Microwave Imager (TMI) flown on the TRMM satellite. Most of the products generated in this data set are based upon the algorithms developed for the 3rd Algorithm Intercomparison Project (AIP-3) of the Global Precipitation Climatology Project (GPCP). Details of these 15 algorithms and development of a quality score which is a measure of confidence in the estimate, along with processing and algorithmic flags, can be found in the Algorithm Theoretical Basis Document (ATBD). The data in this product cover the period from 1997 to 2015 with one file per orbit.

TROPICS03 Pathfinder L2B Instantaneous Surface Rain Rate (ISRR) V1.0
공공데이터포털
The "Time-Resolved Observations of Precipitation structure and storm Intensity with a Constellation of Smallsats" (TROPICS) mission has a goal of providing nearly all-weather observations of three-dimensional temperature and humidity, as well as cloud ice and precipitation horizontal structure, at high temporal resolution to conduct high-value science investigations of tropical cyclones. The mission comprises a constellation of five identical Space Vehicles (SVs) conforming to the 3U form factor and hosting a passive microwave spectrometer payload. Each SV hosts an identical high-performance spectrometer named the TROPICS Millimeter-wave Sounder (TMS) that will provide temperature profiles using seven channels near the 118.75-GHz oxygen absorption line, water vapor profiles using three channels near the 183-GHz water vapor absorption line, imagery in a single channel near 90 GHz for precipitation measurements (when combined with higher resolution water vapor channels), and a single channel near 205 GHz that is more sensitive to cloud-sized ice particles. This dataset is from the TROPICS03 satellite, as the Beta version of the Level 2B geophysical retrieval of atmospheric vertical temperature (kelvins) at the larger unified F-band resolution, retrieval of vertical moisture (g/kg) at the finer G-band spatial resolution, and total Precipitable Water (mm) at the finer G-band spatial resolution. Each TROPICS netCDF file contains a granule of data with 81 spots and approximately 2880 scans, where a granule is defined as an orbit's worth of data. This provisional TROPICS03 data release starts in the middle of June 2023 and TROPICS06 starts at the beginning of June 2023. Both data sets are updated nightly. There are some blackout periods where data is unavailable while the TROPICS team addresses a calibration issue that occurs during the warmest instrument temperatures. The warmest temperatures happen at extreme CubeSat solar beta angles. See README for this and other calibration observations and the Data Product Users Guide for orbit details.
Precipitation Measurement Missions Data Access
공공데이터포털
Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) data products are currently available from 1998 to the present. Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) mission data products are currently available from March 2014 to the present. TRMM and GPM are joint missions between NASA and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) designed to monitor and study global precipitation. Here we outline the types of products currently available for TRMM and GPM and the various ways to query, view and download these precipitation products.
