Open Data Portal (ODP) (Version 2.3)
The Open Data Portal (ODP) is our new hub for open data, built on the idea of finding several datasets in one platform so anyone can easily search and extract the data they need. The ODP is a unified platform that offers public patent data in one place. Enhanced APIs and robust documentation help improve the entire data experience. Customer demand for our data has grown rapidly since the launch of the original Open Data Portal initiative in 2015 � from 50 users to millions. The new Open Data Portal is the next step in the USPTO journey to amplify the public value, accessibility, and efficiency of patent data sharing. ODP will fold several data dissemination services into one central website that empowers you to rapidly discover and easily extract USPTO data however you want. Improved Patent Examination Data System (PEDS) capabilities, Bulk Data Storage System (BDSS), and Developer Hub features and datasets will be included in this tool.

Open Data Portal (ODP) Bulk Datasets API (Search, Product Data, and Download)

Search - Conduct a search of the repository of raw public bulk data. It contains research datasets from the Office of the Chief Economist. The files are updated on a regular or ongoing basis. Use this endpoint if you are interested in searching across multiple patents or applications. For example, you want to return all Patent or Trademark products use productTitle and specify the products you are looking for Patent File Wrapper, for example. Product Data - Contains published, publicly available patent and trademark data in bulk form. Use this endpoint when you want data from a specific Bulk Dataset. You can test APIs right away in SwaggerUI. Download - Contains large bulk files of the Bulk Data Directory (BDD) available for download. Use this endpoint when you want to download bulk data sets.
Open Data Portal (ODP) Final Petition Decisions API (Search, Petition Decision Data, and Download)

Search - Conduct a search of final agency petition decisions in publicly available patent applications and patents that were filed in 2001 or later. Use this endpoint if you are interested in searching across multiple patents or applications and their corresponding final petition decisions. Note: Petition decisions data are incrementally added to ODP on a monthly basis starting with data from 2022 and later. Review our release notes page to find what data is currently available. Petition Decision Data - Conduct a search of all final petition decisions from the Commissioner for Patents and all relevant data fields. This data is refreshed daily. Download - Contains petition decision search records. Use this endpoint when you want to download petition decisions data records in publicly available patents and patent applications filed in 2001 or later. You can download data records as CSV or JSON format.
