The present invention relates to improvements in or relating to vegetation cutter apparatus. In particular, it relates to improvements in construction and manufacture of housings for lawn mowers. We describe a lawnmower having a deck with a lower surface defining a cutting chamber, a cutting element mounted within the cutting chamber, a motor assembly driving the cutter element, the motor being mounted on an upper surface of the deck, wherein the vegetation cutting apparatus further comprises a discharge chute having a discharge chute inlet in communication with the cutting chamber and a discharge chute outlet, a cover covering at least a portion of the motor assembly, and a pivotable deflector guard biased into a closed configuration against the discharge chute outlet. The discharge chute comprises a chute floor, chute sides and a chute roof.
