PMI Impact Malaria Mali: SMC Independent Monitoring Survey 2020
This data asset contains data from the independent Seasonal Malarial Chemoprevention (SMC) monitoring survey conducted in 3 PMI Impact Malaria (IM) project intervention regions in August 2020. In each region 2 districts were selected. For the sampling, two groups were created, namely the group of high performing districts and the group of low performing districts at the first and fourth rounds. This performance criterion refers to the coverage rate achieved per round. A random selection was made from each group to select the two districts in each region. The survey, which is a mechanism for evaluating the implementation of SMC at the community level, was conducted after the first and fourth rounds of SMC in order to ensure early detection of problems in the field and to guide corrective actions aimed at optimizing the impact of the intervention. The survey assessed the results of the campaign's effectiveness in meeting its objectives and in improving the distribution of SMC to targeted children. Data were collected from a total of 4 health districts. In each district, two (2) health areas were selected on the basis of performance. Four(4) villages were randomly selected in each health area based on geographic accessibility, security and village size. In each selected village, thirty (30) concessions were randomly surveyed by independent monitors.
