This webinar, sponsored by the Children's Bureau's Division of State Systems, was the first webinar in the FY2014 Back to Basics: Procurement and Project Management series. This webinar examined how to write a good business requirement statement and then how to test the soundness of that statement against a definitive list of characteristics. Examples of poorly constructed business requirements were reviewed and the webinar explored what happens once the business requirements document has been completed. The webinar included time for Q&A and audience discussion. This webinar was moderated by Joyce Rose, consultant to ICF International. The presenter was Mary E. On behalf of the Children’s Bureau, JBS International, Inc.'s Child Welfare Compliance Reviews Team (CWCRT) recruits young people to support the Children’s Bureau in administering the federal National Youth in Transition Database (NYTD) Reviews. The minimum and preferred (additional) qualifications to become a NYTD Reviewer are summarized below. If a young person meets the minimum qualifications and is interested in NYTD data collection, analysis, and/or data-driven work, we welcome their inquiry or application. The fourth webinar of the series, “Common Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them”, reviews nine common pitfalls associated with building and maintaining child welfare information systems including: lack of user involvement; poorly defined requirements; scope creep, lack of a change control system, poor testing, under-allocated resources, system performance issues, lack of a high-functioning user help desk and poor vendor relationship. This Technical Bulletin (TB) announces the next round of reviews the Children's Bureau plans to begin in federal fiscal year 2022. The bulletin provides a high-level overview of the reviews, outlines improvements to strengthen the CFSR process, and provides information on the scheduling of reviews for CFSR Round 4. The Children's Bureau will provide future guidance and hold calls with states to share more information about the process and procedures before the start of the reviews. JBS International, Inc.'s Child Welfare Reviews Project assists the Children's Bureau in recruiting and maintaining a national pool of child welfare professionals who meet the established minimum education and experience requirements to serve as Child and Family Services Review (CFSR) reviewers, quality assurance (QA) specialists, or note-taking specialists (collectively referred to as “agile staff”). Participation in the CFSRs requires a significant commitment of time and effort. The following is a summary of the general responsibilities of agile staff participating in the CFSRs: When participating in a CFSR, CFSR reviewers have the following responsibilities: A CFSR reviewer may also be trained to perform as a note-taking specialist or QA specialist. These roles are generally reserved for experienced reviewers who have demonstrated a strong understanding of the OSRI and its application.
