Pursuant to Public Resource Code 4202, The State Fire Marshal shall classify lands within State Responsibility Areas into fire hazard severity zones. Each zone shall embrace relatively homogeneous lands and shall be based on fuel loading, slope, fire weather, and other relevant factors present, including areas where winds have been identified by the department as a major cause of wildfire spread.,

LANDFIRE's (LF) Remap Succession Class (SClass) categorizes current vegetation composition and structure into up to five successional classes, with successional classes defined in the appropriate Biophysical Settings (BpS) Model. There are two additional categories for uncharacteristic species (exotic or invasive vegetation), and uncharacteristic native vegetation cover, structure, or composition. Current successional classes and their historical reference conditions are compared to assess departure of vegetation characteristics. To calculate vegetation departure from historical reference conditions, SClass is combined with BpS and LF map zone data to create LF Historical Reference Condition tables. The classification schemes used to produce BpS and SClass may vary slightly between adjacent map zones, and reference conditions are simulated independently for each map zone. Departure can be further quantified by using the Interagency Fire Regime Condition Class Guidebook (FRCC Guidebook) methods (Hann et al. 2010).

This map feeds into a web app that allows a user to examine the known status of structures damaged by the wildfire. If a structure point does not appear on the map it may still have been impacted by the fire. Specific addresses can be searched for in the search bar. Use the imagery and topographic basemaps and photos to positively identify a structure. Photos may only be available for damaged and destroyed structures.,

This database was designed in response to the Director Memorandum - "Effective January 1, 2019 all structure greater than 120 square feet in the State Responsibility Area (SRA) damaged by wildfire will be inspected and documented in the DINS Collector App.",
