Short Term Street Closures from issued Street Use permits. These permits are only the closures permitted for non-construction activities, including Block Parties, Play Streets, Farmers markets and Cafe Streets. This dataset does not include closures for parades, festivals, or construction related activities.

HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED The dataset pulls permit information from the Department of Public Works system of record. C. DOT Street Closure data identifies locations in the New York City Street Closure map where a street is subject to a full closure, restricting through traffic, for the purpose of conducting construction related activity on a City street. Details about DOT construction permits can be found at Street Works Manual, http://streetworksmanual.nyc. Full Closure Permits are issued for a period of time during which the street may be closed to through traffic for only a portion of the time, and open at other times.

Essentially, if it is derived from another source or not. - "provenance": This field shows if an asset is "official" (created by someone in the city of San Francisco) or "community" (created by a member of the community, not official). All community assets are derived as members of the community cannot add data to the open data portal.
