US Tune Purse Seine Fleet History & Activity Database
The NMFS SWR collected historical vessel information on the U.S. tuna cannery baitboat and purse seine fleets for many years. The database's first record of a baitboat entering the fleet dates back to 1927. Individual trip dates and locations for the purse seine fleet have been collected since July 1982. Fleet operations have been conducted primarily in the north eastern and western central Pacific Ocean. A quarterly fleet report was published between 1972 and 2004. Hard copies of the quarterly report are on file in the NMFS Long Beach office library. The database is historical with last updates in 2012.

Station Number & Activity Log Data collected during research cruises from 1978 to 2003 and in 2007 in the Central and Western Pacific
공공데이터포털
Station operations data were collected on cruises of NOAA R/V Townsend Cromwell, 1978 - 2002, NOAA R/V Oscar E Sette, 2003 and 2007, and Hokusei Maru, a Japanese research and training vessel, 1981 - 1983. Date, station number, latitude, longitude, and the operation(s) conducted at the station were recorded on the collection form.
Vessel Activity Record
공공데이터포털
The Vessel Activity Record is a bi-weekly spreadsheet that shows the status of fishing vessels. It records whether fishing vessels are fishing without an observer onboard, with an observer on board or in port.
U.S. Western Pacific Purse Seine
공공데이터포털
Since 1988, U.S. purse seine vessels have had access to fish in waters of some foreign Pacific Island countries under the South Pacific Tuna Treaty (SPTT). This fleet primarily targets skipjack and yellowfin tuna, but also incidentally catches bigeye tuna. U.S.A. purse-seine vessels fishing in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean (WCPO) have been monitored by NOAA Fisheries under the SPTT since 1988. Logbook and landings data must be submitted as a requirement of the SPTT with 100% logbook coverage. Most SPTT-licensed vessels e-report their daily logbook data through a software system called Industry Fisheries Information Management System (iFIMS), and also submit copies of their catch and effort logbooks, their offloading logbooks, and cannery receipts to PIRO field staff in American Samoa. The WCPO fleet operates mainly in areas between 10 degrees N and 10 degrees S latitude and 130 degrees E and 150 degrees W longitude, with the majority of the fishing effort occurring south of the equator.
AIS Vessel Tracks 2016
공공데이터포털
Vessels traveling in U.S. coastal and inland waters frequently use Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) for navigation safety. The U.S. Coast Guard collects AIS records using shore-side antennas. These records have been filtered and converted from a series of points to a set of track lines for each vessel. Vessels can have one or more tracks of any length, and can be separated by gaps due to intermittent loss of the AIS signal. Tracks will not necessarily start or stop at a well defined port, or when a vessel is not in motion. Vessel tracks are an efficient and spatially unbiased indicator of vessel traffic.
Gulf of Mexico AIS Vessel Tracks 2013
공공데이터포털
Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) are a navigation safety device that transmits and monitors the location and characteristics of many vessels in U.S. and international waters in real-time. In the U.S. the Coast Guard and industry collect AIS data, which can also be used for a variety of coastal planning purposes. NOAA and BOEM have worked jointly to re-task and make available some of the most important records from the U.S. Coast Guard's national network of AIS receivers. Information such as location, time, ship type, length, width, and draft have been extracted from the raw data and prepared as track lines for analyses in desktop GIS software.
Observer and At Sea Monitor Database (OBDBS)
공공데이터포털
The Northeast Fisheries Observer Database System (OBDBS) contains data collected on commercial fishing vessels by observers from 1989 - present and at-sea monitors from 2010 - present. The data include detailed gear, effort, catch, bycatch of finfish and protected species as well as biological samples of priority and protected species. Data is collected by trained fishery observers and at-sea monitors for scientific and fisheries management purposes.
