Fishing Effort Maps Based on Commercial Fishing Logbook Data - New South Wales 2011-2015
공공데이터포털
This dataset contains summaries of NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) logbook data on effort distribution for NSW commercial fisheries in state marine and estuarine waters. The logbook data has been recorded and submitted to NSW DPI by commercial fishers. https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing/commercial/catch-effort The data are aggregated to produce summaries of total effort by gear type (summarised across fishery), over 5 year periods and at a 0.1 degree resolution where 6 boats or more operate. All effort information has been removed for areas where less than 6 boats operate and these areas are mapped to a 1 degree resolution. The 5 year period (2011-2015) corresponds to State of Environment (SoE) Reporting, required under the EPBC Act 1999. Each map layer is labelled by the years aggregated (“2015” for 2011-2015) and the gear type (“GNMN” = gillnet and mesh net). The gear codes and aggregated fisheries and the shape file field descriptions are listed separately in the Supplemental Information section. The data were supplied for the purpose of research being undertaken by CSIRO under the National Environmental Science Programme (NESP) Marine Biodiversity Hub to produce an interactive map of pressures on the marine environment (at a broad spatial scale) that will enable a systematic understanding of the different pressures acting in different areas. Fishing Effort Maps Based on Commercial Fishing Logbook Data - Western Australia 2011-2015
공공데이터포털
This data contains summaries of WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) logbook data on effort distribution for WA commercial fisheries in state marine waters. The logbook data has been recorded and submitted to WA DPIRD by commercial fishers. http://www.fish.wa.gov.au/Fishing-and-Aquaculture/Commercial-Fishing/Commercial-Fishing-Management/Pages/Major-Commercial-Fisheries.aspx The data are aggregated to produce summaries of total effort by fishing activity or method (summarised across fishery), over 5 year periods and at a 60 mn resolution where 3 or more boats operate. Effort is indicated as presence-only for areas where less than 3 boats operate. The 5 year periods (2006-2010, 2011-2015) correspond to State of Environment (SoE) Reporting, required under the EPBC Act 1999. Each map layer is labelled by the years aggregated (“2011” for 2011-2015) and the fishing activity (e.g. “Line”). The gear codes and aggregated fisheries and the shape file field descriptions are listed below. Source: Based on Western Australia Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development data, extract taken July 2020. The data were supplied for the purpose of research being undertaken by CSIRO under the NESP Marine Biodiversity Hub to produce an interactive map of pressures on the marine environment (at a broad spatial scale) that will enable a systematic understanding of the different pressures acting in different areas. Please contact the WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development for permissions to use the data for another purpose. Coordinate reference system: EPSG: 4326, WGS 84 Notes: 1. Care needs to be taken when interpreting the fishing effort maps because in areas where there are less than 3 boats operating only the fishing footprint at 1 degree resolution is displayed, consistent with the WA DPIRD Information Disclosure Policy. The fishing footprint indicates that fishing occurred but does not provide information about the intensity of effort. These areas comprise less than 4% of the total fishing effort. Note that fishing effort is recorded at finer-resolution (0.1 degree) since approximately 2008, however due to confidentiality those data were unavailable. 2. The summary effort data encompasses the commercial marine fisheries in Western Australia, excluding the Christmas Island Fishery. These include trawl, line, trap, pot, hand gathering, and net methods. For further detail regarding these methods, please contact WA DPIRD. The WA commercial fisheries associated with each fishing activity (or method) are listed below. Disclaimer The Chief Executive Officer of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and the State of Western Australia accept no liability whatsoever by reason of negligence or otherwise arising from the use or release of this information or any part of it. Data from the Interim Report "The spatial distribution of commercial fishery production in the Northwest Shelf of Australia, 1973 to 1997" (NWS JEMS Task 2.6)
공공데이터포털
The data was summarised to produce an interim report to describe the trawling effort and total catch in the North West Shelf of Australia between 1973 and 1997. It contains foreign and domestic commercial fisheries data from three separate sources: Taiwanese Logbook data (Anon. 1973-1982), foreign (Taiwanese, Chinese and South Korean) trawl data collated by the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (1979-1989), and domestic catch and effort statistics data collated by Fisheries, Western Australia (1979-1997). Trawling effort and total catch by year, as well as catches of 22 species categories (mostly family level classifications) are sumarised spatially into a 10x10 minute grid scale over part of the NWS region to show spatial distribution. The original Report produced Mar 2001 was updated and corrected in 2003. The corrections made are: (1) the Taiwaneses total catch was recalculated using all categories reported in the Annual reports (previously invertebrates, 'dumped' and 'other' were excluded); (2)Taiwanese effort data was corrected for logbook recovery rates reported in the Annual Reports. The update refers to an additional section describing the data that was used in NWS-JEMS Project 5.
Australian Fisheries Management Authority - Reported annual fishing effort from Commonwealth fisheries logbooks
공공데이터포털
##Description While at sea, Commonwealth fishers must record all catch and effort in their AFMA daily fishing logbooks. This dataset shows the annual fishing effort by fishery and gear, that fishers have recorded in their logbooks for Commonwealth fisheries managed by the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA). Location of effort within a fishery is not included. These data are sourced from AFMA daily fishing logbooks, which fishers complete while at sea. Location of effort within a fishery is not included. Fishing effort is measured differently depending on the fishing method used. In this dataset we provide the most common measures that are used by scientists. ##Appropriate use and limitations of the data The effort data in logbooks are estimates only, which have been recorded by fishers while at sea. Effort data are used in combination with catch data, spatial data, and other relevant information (such as independent surveys) to inform stock assessments. These data may differ from other summations over the same time-period (such as stock assessment reports) due to differences in data handling procedures. For example, scientists may standardise effort for assessments to account for issues such as changes in gear efficiency, catchability of fish and skipper expertise. They may also filter out effort from their assessments because of data quality issues. Care should be taken when interpreting trends in this data because there are many factors that can affect effort each year. Catch quantities can be impacted by management measures such as closures of fishing areas or reducing boat numbers. Similarly, changes in market demand can change fishing decisions and affect effort. ##Disclaimer The dataset provided by AFMA is comprised of raw (unprocessed) data as received from fishers, and may contain errors or be incomplete. AFMA makes no warranty or representation that the data is accurate or complete. Those who choose to use this data should make their own enquiries as to its accuracy and completeness and AFMA assumes no liability for any errors or omissions in the data provided, or for any decision by a person who chooses to rely on the data.
