It is thought that groundwater resources will be available to external users within a CLPR (Catchment and Land Protection) Mapshare View. The data is derived from Minerals and Petroleums RDBMS, which is known as VICMINE. Information on each site has been compiled mostly from historical literature, with only selected major sites visited in the field. NOTES CONCERNING GEOVIC "Mines and Mineral Occurrence" DISPLAY The type of mine/mineral occurrence displayed varies with the scale of the map view. Major and Intermediate size mines are displayed at all scales. Minor and Unknown size Mines are displayed at scales ranging from 1:1 to 1:500,000 MAJOR is for mine_size greater than= 85000000 MINOR is for mine_size less than 8500000 INTERMEDIATE is for mine_size between the two UNKNOWN is when the mine_size is unknown MINE_SIZE (better name would be MINE_VALUE) is a calculated dollar amount based on the total production and resource for each commodity multiplied by the commodity price (NOTE: these commodity prices have not been updated in some time eg: as of 13/1/2013 the gold price per ounce used was $526.70 - April 1985 prices) NOTES CONCERNING GEOVIC "Deposit Styles" DISPLAY A number of deposit style layers exist in GeoVic. The layers are based on particular values of the dep_style attribute - within this dataset. This web map service provides the locations and status, as at 30 June 2020, of Australian operating mines, mines under development, mines on care and maintenance and resource deposits associated with critical minerals. Developing mines are deposits where the project has a positive feasibility study, development has commenced or all approvals have been received. Mines under care and maintenance and resource deposits are based on known resource estimations and may produce critical minerals in the future.

This web service delivers datasets produced by the Critical Minerals Mapping Initiative (CMMI), a collaboration between Geoscience Australia (GA), the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) and the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Data in this service includes geochemical analyses of over 7000 samples collected from or near mineral deposits from 60 countries, and mineral prospectivity models for clastic-dominated (Zn, Pb) and Mississippi Valley-type (Zn-Pb) deposits across Canada, the United States, and Australia.

Index to mineral core stored by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. This mineral drillcore is usually obtained from mineral exploration companies and is selected on the basis of a number of geological criteria and the need to promote the mineral prospectivity of Western Australia. The core libraries in Perth and Kalgoorlie are only capable of storing 2 to 5% of core drilled each year in Western Australia, and once stored is available for public viewing. Information on drillcore is usually sourced from WAMEX reports (company exploration reports) submitted to the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. Mineral exploration reports (WAMEX online) This is the spatial data for the public, open file, reports contained in the WAMEX database. The WAMEX (WA Mineral EXploration) database contains the statutory mineral exploration reports submitted by companies to the Department as part of their reporting commitments on mining leases.
