This service presents location, status, and other information regarding mining operations regulated under the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act of 1975 (SMARA) in California. The data presented in this service is reported by mine operators in annual reports provided to the California Department of Conservation Division of Mine Reclamation (DMR) under Public Resources Code section 2207. While DMR attempts to populate Mines Online with accurate map coordinate data, the DMR cannot guarantee the accuracy of operator-reported location information.

The Major Resources Projects Map custom data extract is a regularly-updated point representation of the State's major resource projects (excluding Petroleum Fields) that appear on an annually produced map. The projects are selected on the value of output or capital development costs being above certain nominated thresholds. Project status may be either proposed, operational, or care and maintenance

The titanium-zircon mineral industry operates in the high-profile settled parts of the Swan Coastal Plain of SW Australia. Currently probably several billion dollars-worth of minerals are sterilized by urban, commercial and industrial developments in the region. Maps showing the distribution of the known deposits are an essential dataset needed by State and local Government agencies and authorities, and must be available widely to enable planning to avoid setting up the scenario where deposits are sterilized. This dataset was formally known as Titanium-Zircon Mineralisation (DMP-023)

The Project Approval Boundary spatial data set provides information on the location of the project approvals granted for each mine in NSW by an approval authority (either NSW Department of Planning or local Council). This information may not align to the mine authorisation (i.e. mine title etc) granted under the Mining Act 1992. This information is created and submitted by each large mine operator to fulfill the Final Landuse and Rehabilitation Plan data submission requirements required under Schedule 8A of the Mining Regulation 2016. The collection of this spatial data is administered by the Resources Regulator in NSW who conducts reviews of the data submitted for assessment purposes. In some cases, information provided may contain inaccuracies that require adjustment following the assessment process by the Regulator. The Regulator will request data resubmission if issues are identified.
