Marine and Coastal Feature Atlas Polygons

Marine Assets
공공데이터포털
This layer provides the boundaries of significant marine environmental assets which have been identified on the basis of their environmental value (at statewide, bioregional or local significance scale) for marine biodiversity and/or marine ecological processes. Victoria's marine protected areas, including the Marine National Parks and Marine Sanctuaries, are not included in this leayer unless they fall within the boundaries of larger identified asset areas. Separate expert workshops were held to identify these marine environmental assets in each of the following marine regions: Port Phillip Bay, Western Port, Western Victoria and Gippsland. The relative environmental significance of each asset identified was also rated by experts using the following categories: statewide, bioregional or local. Within each category, assets whose value relates primarily to use by birds that are not exclusively marine were rated separately to those whose value relates to exclusively marine species or ecological processes. These significance ratings were assessed separately for each region but the comparability of asset ratings across regions was then reviewed. This supersedes the earlier ASSET_MARINE layer. Blue Whale feeding/ Bonney upweling and Blue Whale Distribution asset areas were also identified through the above process, but have not been included in the layer because they encompass the majority of Victorian waters.
Coastal Places of Interest
공공데이터포털
Victorian State-wide dataset containing features of interest including boating clubs, camping grounds, caravan parks, historic sites, lifesaving clubs and lookouts as identified by the Victorian Regional Coastal Boards and reviewed as part of the Future Coasts SECAP project.
Coastal Protection Structures Line
공공데이터포털
A dataset depicting coastal protective structures captured by the Department of Primary Industries for the Future Coasts Program in 2011 using aerial photography available in the DSE image repository, known as the Coordination Image Program (CIP). This dataset was further reviewed as part of the Future Coasts SECAP project (2011/2012). Information on the condition of a number of protection structures is available as a separate (restricted) database that links to this spatial dataset. The data was reviewed in 2017, adding asset IDs to enable linking to asset management data.
Beach Natural Features
공공데이터포털
Victorian state-wide dataset containing information on natural features at each ocean beach relating to the surf zone and hydrology, beach system or type, dominant shoreline geology and beach presence. The dataset includes surf zone data on rip currents, swash gradient, tidal range (neap and spring), modal wave height, dominant swell direction and wave frequency. This dataset has been adapted from the Australian Beach Safety and Management Program (ABSAMP) 1999, joined with the VicCoastline 2008 dataset and the geology classified using the smartline coastal data segmentation dataset as produced in the Australian Coastal Geomorphic and Stability Mapping Project.
Australian Coasts Seagrass and Underwater Habitat Survey
공공데이터포털
This dataset is a composition of various datasets to form a map at the 1:100000 scale of the seagrass and underwater habitats from Shark Bay to NSW border going south and including Tasmania. Data extends up to 50Km offshore. The dataset was compiled largely by Dr Hugh Kirkman and subsequently updated by Dr. Ian Hahmdorf, (Bureau of Rural Sciences) and became part of CAMRIS as the CAMRIS Seagrass Dataset. Additional details (including a link to download the data as shapefile) are accessible via the www.environment.gov.au website (see links section).
Seascapes for the Australian Margin and Adjacent Seabed
공공데이터포털
Seascapes describing a layer of ecologically meaningful biophysical variable that spatially represent potential seabed habitats have been derived for the Australian margin and adjacent seabed in a new analysis of existing biophysical data. A total of 13 seascapes were derived for the continental shelf and nine seascapes for regions beyond the continental shelf using the unsupervised ISOCLASS classification in the software package ERMapper. The ecological significance of the seascapes is assessed at the national, regional and local scale using existing biological data. Options and avenues for future development are also described.
