Maitland City Council(MCC)Vegetation Mapping by Lisa Hill in 2003. Vegetation distribution map for lands within the extent of the local government area, excluding those contained within National Park or State Forest Reserves. Systematic vegetation survey was carried out in Maitland LGA to provide Maitland Council with detailed information on natural vegetation for strategic planning purposes. Flora was sampled at 55 field sites (plots) and extensive field reconnaissance was carried out across the LGA. Agglomerative cluster analysis of plot data delineated eleven vegetation communities and an additional two communities were described by previous work in the LGA work (NPWS 2000). A total of 8,305 ha of extant vegetation was mapped in Maitland LGA using aerial photograph interpretation (API) at 1:25,000 scale. This included thirteen vegetation communities and areas of scattered trees and regeneration that did not constitute intact communities. Much of the vegetation in the LGA has affiliation with vegetation in the central, lower and mid Hunter valley, with areas in the south-east of the LGA more related to coastal vegetation in the lower Hunter-Central Coast Region. Fine-scale mapping of vegetation, including Endangered Ecological Communities (EECs) and Koala habitat across the Local Government Area (LGA). The mapping fulfills a fundamental requirement for the development of a Biodiversity Management Strategy (BMS) by Lismore City Council. The LGA was divided into three zones, designated by colour, reflecting differing levels of available background information, potential for landuse to conflict with biodiversity objectives and other threats. NPWS Estate including National Parks (NPs), Nature Reserves (NRs) and State Conservation Areas (SCAs) as well as State Forests (SFs) were outside the scope of the mapping project. Original field work was undertaken between November 2010 and June 2011. The mapping project commenced in Nov 2017 using 2009 aerial photography along with Sept 2012 imagery limited to the rural villages of Modanville, Dunoon and Nimbin. From May 2018 onwards the project used high resolution aerial photography taken in April 2018. Vegetation was classified by API mainly on the basis of spatial patterns, texture and colour calibrated by field observations. Non-plantation vegetation polygons were assigned to vegetation units on the basis of canopy dominant species. Vegetation communities were placed in Keith formations and classes. Vegetation condition was also recorded. Each vegetation polygon was assigned to a Koala habitat category based only on flora species present. A list of EECs reported or considered likely to occur in the LGA were also derived. A reliability code was allocated to each mapped polygon, according to the source of the data and/or the manner in which data was collected. VIS_ID 4479
Spatial Vegetation Data for Arches National Park Vegetation Mapping Project
공공데이터포털
This polygon feature class represents vegetation communities mapped at Arches National Park to an alliance or association level, depending on the photo signature. The polygons were generated using guidelines set by the Standardized National Vegetation Classification System (October 1995). Original lines were drawn on mylar overlays using the DOQs collected in June of 2002. Hard copy 9x9 photography was used for photo interpretation. Traditional image interpretation cues were used to develop the polygons, such as shape, size, pattern, tone, texture, color, and shadow. Additional data layers were used in aiding the interpretation, such as slope, hydrology, soils, geography, and ground-collected vegetation information. The minimum mapping unit was 1/2 hectare. The lines developed in the image interpretation step were scanned using a large format scanner. The resultant scanned image was converted into line work for use within ArcGIS. The line work was cleaned, polygons created and attributed. The attributed vegetation classes were subjected to an accuracy assessment, following which final adjustments were made to the vegetation classes. As with any digital layer, this layer is a representation of what is actually occurring on the ground. Errors are inherent in any interpretation of ground qualities. Due to the "snapshot" nature of the DOQs, this vegetation layer reflects conditions that existed when the imagery was collected.
