Vegetation survey and mapping of Killarney State Conservation Area in 2008, commissioned by NPWS Narrabri Region. Six vegetation communities were mapped following field survey and full floristic sampling. Colour aerial photographs at 1:50 000 scale formed the basis of the vegetation map polygons. The images were interpreted stereoscopically for patterns of vegetation and geomorphology, and matched to the vegetation site data. A provisional vegetation map was drafted on acetate overlays and the linework and boundaries checked during ground-truthing. The study area was traversed and particular sites investigated to confirm polygon labels and resolve vegetation boundaries. The final vegetation polygons were then transferred and corrected to the 1:50 000 topographic map sheet and coded. Linework was transferred to hardcopy topographic mapsheets and digitised using a digitising tablet and ArcView 3.3. A code denoting the vegetation community was then attributed to each polygon based on the hardcopy linework. Dataset was reprojected by DECCW from AGD66 Zone 55 to GDA94 using ArcMAP 9.3. Avondale State Conservation Area vegetation mapping was undertaken by Dr John T. Hunter in 2014 by contract for the NPWS Northern Tableland Region. Avondale State Conservation Area is located approximately 36 km north east of Armidale and is accessed via the Rockvale Road. The reserve occurs on eastern side of the central New England Tablelands. The vegetation of Avondale State Conservation Area is described and mapped (scale1:10 000) based on ADS40 Imagery (2012). Six floristic communities are defined based on classification (Kulczynski association) and seven Plant Community Types (VIS) are mapped. These six floristic communities and seven PCTs were mapped based on ground truthing, ADS40 interpretation and landform. Two Threatened Ecological Communities (TECs) were recognised and mapped also. Six Plant Community Types are defined based on similarity classification (SIMPER) of 62 full floristic and rapid assessment sites. These six communities were mapped based on ground truthing, satellite image analysis and landform.

Vegetation community mapping for Dowe Community Conservation Area (CCA) Zone 1 National Park by John Hunter, 2009. A Northern Tablelands NPWS Region contract. Mapped at 1:50,000 scale. Dowe NP is north east of Gunnedah immediately adjacent to the east of Lake Keepit. Five communities are defined based on classification (Kulczynski association). These five communities were mapped based on ground truthing, air photo interpretation and landform. The communities described and their status are: Floristic Community Area Reservation Status C1: White Cypress Pine – Silver-leaved Ironbark – White Box Woodland C2: White Box – White Cypress Pine Grassy Woodland C4: Yarran Shrubland A total of 170 vascular plant taxa were found from 51 families and 125 genera (22% exotic). Error found in typing of one polygon by NPWS Northern Plains Region staff in February 2012. Community description was changed (ObjectID_1 = 2) from 'C3: Narrow-leaved Ironbark - White Cypress Pine' to 'Undescribed White Box - White Cypress Pine'. White Box - White Cypress Pine was not identified as a community in the floristic analysis so is not described in the associated report. NSW Plant Communities (VCA), Classes and Formations (per Keith 2004) were assigned by Western PaCS Dubbo. Those provided in the original report were incorrectly assigned. VIS_ID 3995
