NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) All Managed Land
공공데이터포털
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) All Managed Land dataset combines following four separate NPWS datasets: NPWS Estate Land Vested in NPW Act Minister - acquisition of land for reservation Land Vested in NPW Act Minister - acquisition of land for management and other purposes NPWS Managed Land Other This combined dataset is for reporting purposes when it is deemed necessary to include all of the land that is managed by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. Area hectares of each polygon have been generated in this dataset to assist reporting. Please note that the GIS area calculation was performed using Lamberts Conic Conformal (LCC) projection. This GIS calculated area will not be the same as the gazetted area or acquired area. The following is the description of layers included: The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Estate database provides information on areas reserved under the NP&W Act 1974. Areas include National Parks, Nature Reserves, Regional Parks, State Conservation Areas, Aboriginal Areas, Historic Sites and Karst Conservation Reserves. Land Vested in NPW Act Minister - acquisition of land for reservation - Boundaries of areas in NSW which are vested in the Minister administering the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 under Part 11. The majority of lands included in this dataset are acquired by the NSW NPWS but not yet gazetted as formal reserve. This dataset is known internally as NPWS Acquired Not Gazetted. Land Vested in NPW Act Minister - acquisition of land for management and other purposes - Boundaries of areas in NSW which are vested in the Minister administering the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 under Part 11. This dataset contains all other vested lands that are not included in the NPWS Vested For Reservation dataset. This dataset includes access roads, workshops, depots, accommodation, offices, leasehold land, and land pending decision or disposal. NPWS Managed Land Other - Boundaries of other land in NSW which are under the management of the NSW NPWS. Areas include Crown land under licence to NPWS, Crown Reserve managed by NPWS, Flora Reserve managed by NPWS, and Enclosure Permit held by NPWS. This dataset is known internally as NPWS Managed Land Other. Additional fields have been added to the attribute table of the merged dataset to assist in determining management responsibilities. These are: SOURCE: Source of the individual tenure layer from the above four datasets TENURETYPE: Lists different tenure types eg. Reserved, Freehold, Leasehold, Crown land under licence to NPWS, Enclosure Permit held by NPWS, etc FIELD_MGT: Lists whether the land is fully managed by NPWS or whether there are conditions with management. Field management responsibilities are conditional on the terms of the individual lease, licence, permit or management agreement. National Wilderness Preservation System
공공데이터포털
,Wilderness areas are federally-owned public lands managed by the federal government through four agencies, the Bureau of Land Management, Fish and Wildlife Service, Forest Service, and National Park Service. When the National Wilderness Preservation System started in 1964, only 54 wilderness areas were included. Since then, the system has grown nearly every year to include more than 800. The time component of this service is based on the year in which the wilderness was originally designated (additions may have occurred in subsequent years). Overall, however, only about 5% of the entire United States—an area slightly larger than the state of California— is protected as wilderness. Because Alaska contains just over half of America's wilderness, only about 2.7% of the contiguous United States—an area about the size of Minnesota—is protected as wilderness. To learn more about wilderness areas, visit Wilderness Connect, the authoritative source for wilderness information online. Wilderness Connect also publishes two other map resources:,,,Although wilderness areas are federally-owned, some areas contain non-federal parcels within their boundaries. Non-federal lands within some wilderness areas are included as part of this feature dataset as a separate layer. Termed inholdings or edgeholdings, these lands are privately-owned or owned by local governments, state governments or Indigenous Nations. Hundreds of inholdings and edgeholdings exist across the wilderness system. Generally, however, they are small compared to the size of the wilderness itself. Since the rules and regulations that apply to wilderness areas do not apply to these non-federally-owned parcels, it is important for wilderness visitors to know their location to avoid trespassing where access is not allowed. The owners of inholdings and edgeholdings can develop these parcels (as long as developments do not affect the character of the surrounding wilderness lands) and they retain special and limited access to them, sometimes, but not always, by motorized means.,
