REGDOC-2.6.3, Aging Management, sets out the requirements of the CNSC for managing the aging of structures, systems and components (SSCs) of a power reactor facility. Guidance is also provided as to how these requirements may be met. Managing the aging of a reactor facility means to ensure the availability of required safety functions throughout the facility’s service life, with consideration given to changes that occur over time and with use. This requires addressing both physical aging and obsolescence of SSCs where this can, directly or indirectly, have an adverse effect on the safe operation of the reactor facility. This document is intended for use by licensees and applicants in establishing, implementing and improving aging management (AM) programs and plans for reactor facilities.

This regulatory document sets out requirements and guidance for reports and notifications that licensees of waste nuclear substances, Class II nuclear facilities and users of prescribed equipment, nuclear substances and radiation devices must submit to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC). This document also presents the types of reports and the applicable timeframe for reporting. Licensees and those who transport nuclear substances are required to report to the CNSC regarding situations, events and dangerous occurrences. Regulatory document REGDOC-3.1.3 incorporates and clarifies requirements found in the Nuclear Safety and Control Act (NSCA) and regulations made under the NSCA, including requirements for content and timing of reports. Additionally, it provides guidance on the interpretation and scope of application of these requirements in the context of Class II nuclear facilities, nuclear substances and radiation devicesand waste nuclear substance licensees. Further to the reporting requirements set by the NSCA and the regulations, a licence may contain any term or condition that identifies a reporting requirement and the time frame for submitting the report. This document provides guidance on these licence conditions, including the submission of an annual compliance report (ACR).

The purpose of this regulatory document is to assist Class I nuclear facility licensees and applicants for a Class I nuclear facility licence to demonstrate to the CNSC that they will ensure the presence of a sufficient number of qualified workers to carry on the licensed activity safely and in accordance with the Nuclear Safety and Control Act (NSCA, the Act) [1], the regulations made under the NSCA, and their licence.

This regulatory document provides information to assist applicants in preparing and submitting applications for certification as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO). Its purpose is to ensure that persons seeking certification by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) for the position of RSO at a Class II nuclear facility are qualified to carry out the duties of the position, in accordance with the Nuclear Safety and Control Act (NSCA) and its regulations. The document also presents information related to the process that candidates seeking certification must undergo, in order to acquire and maintain the certification.

The purpose of this document is to set out the regulatory requirements of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) for public information and disclosure, for licensees and applicants. A program for public information includes a public disclosure protocol regarding events and developments involving their facilities and/or activities. This document also provides guidance on the development and implementation of CNSC requirements for public information programs and disclosure protocols. This document is also intended to assist CNSC staff in assessing the public information program and its disclosure protocol for a new CNSC licence, a licence renewal or continuing compliance verification.

This regulatory document sets out requirements and guidance for reports and notifications that licensees of Class I nuclear facilities (excluding power reactors) and of uranium mines and mills must submit to the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC). This document presents the types of reports and the applicable timeframe for reporting. Licensees are required to report to the CNSC regarding situations, events and dangerous occurrences that may require short-term action by the CNSC. Licensees must also submit an annual compliance monitoring report. Licensees are also required to provide notification of certain normal business activities (such as work disruptions or financial status) and to file specific records with the CNSC in accordance with the Nuclear Safety and Control Act (NSCA) and the regulations made under the NSCA.

This regulatory document provides information on conventional health and safety (CHS). In accordance with the Nuclear Safety and Control Act (NSCA), the CNSC has a mandate related to the risks to health and safety of persons associated with the development, production and use of nuclear energy, with the production, possession and use of nuclear substances, and with prescribed equipment and information. CHS is a safety and control area (SCA) that covers the implementation of a program to manage workplace safety hazards and to protect workers. Occupational health and safety (OHS) seeks to prevent worker illness and injuries through the proactive identification and mitigation of hazards. OHS in a nuclear setting consists of four SCAs: CHS; emergency management and fire protection; physical design; and radiation protection. The CNSC evaluates each SCA to determine whether licensees meet the regulatory requirements set out in the NSCA and its associated regulations.
