At the end of each fiscal year, the Receiver General of Canada publishes financial information in the Public Accounts. This dataset, based on Section 3 of Volume 1, presents (in millions of dollars) the expenditures under statutory authorities. Spending authorities provided by statutory authorities are for specified purposes and for such amounts and such time periods as the acts prescribe. These spending authorities do not generally lapse at the end of the year during which they were granted. Expenditures under such authorities account for approximately half of the total program expenses each year. This non-official record of information comes from the Public Accounts of Canada.
