Hydrophysical, hydrochemical, meteorological, and other data were collected using bottle and XBT casts in Pacific Ocean from January 1, 1994 to December 31, 1994. These data were submitted by Dr. Tadao Tatsuno of the Japanese Hydrographic Office.

Physical and other data from CTD casts, XBT casts, current meters, and other instruments from the SHOYO and other platforms from the NE Pacific (limit-180) and other locations from 16 January 1993 to 01 December 1995. Data were collected by the Japanese Hydrographic Office and the Maritime Safety Agency; Hydrographic Division (MSA). Additional funding for digitizing historic data were provided by the Global Ocean Data Archaeology and Rescue (GODAR) project.

Current components, physical, and other data were collected by moored current meters and CTD casts from NOAA Ship McARTHUR and other platforms. Data were collected by Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) from 04 October 1983 to 01 February 1984. Data has been processed by NODC to the standard NODC F015-Current Meter Data (Components) and the F022-CTD High Resolutions formats. This F015 format is used for time series measurements of ocean currents. These data are obtained from current meter moorings and represent Eulerian method of current measurement, i.e., the meters are deployed at a fixed point and measure flow past a sensor. Position, bottom depth, sensor depth, and meter characteristics are reported for each station. The data record comprises values of east-west (u) and north-south (v) current vector components at specified date and time. Current direction is defined as the direction toward which the water is flowing with positive directions east and north and negative directions west and south. Data values may be subject to averaging or filtering and are typically reported at 10-15 minute time intervals. Water temperature, pressure, and conductivity or salinity may also be reported. A text record is available for optional comments. The F022 format contains high-resolution data collected using CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) and STD (salinity-temperature-depth) instruments. As they are lowered and raised in the oceans, these electronic devices provide nearly continuous profiles of temperature, salinity, and other parameters. Data values may be subject to averaging or filtering or obtained by interpolation and may be reported at depth intervals as fine as 1m. Cruise and instrument information, position, date, time and sampling interval are reported for each station. Environmental data at the time of the cast (meteorological and sea surface conditions) may also be reported. The data record comprises values of temperature, salinity or conductivity, density (computed sigma-t), and possibly dissolved oxygen or transmissivity at specified depth or pressure levels. Data may be reported at either equally or unequally spaced depth or pressure intervals. A text record is available for comments.

CTD data were collected from CTD casts from NOAA Ship DISCOVERER and NOAA Ship SURVEYOR in the Northeast Pacific Ocean from 03 June 1985 to 21 September 1988. Data were collected by the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) as part of the VENTS program. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard F022 High Resolution STD/CTD data format. The F022 format contains high-resolution data collected using CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) and STD (salinity-temperature-depth) instruments. As they are lowered and raised in the oceans, these electronic devices provide nearly continuous profiles of temperature, salinity, and other parameters. Data values may be subject to averaging or filtering or obtained by interpolation and may be reported at depth intervals as fine as 1m. Physical, chemical, biological, meteorological, and other data were collected from bottle casts, CTD casts, and divers from FIXED PLATFORMS. Data were collected by Western Washington University (WWU) from 06 February 1989 to 12 March 1998. Physical parameters include water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and salinity. Nutrients parameters include concentrations of ammonia, nitrate, phosphate, phaeopigment, and C02. Meteorological parameters include wind speed, rainfall, and cloud cover. Skin diver data include sighting of juvenile rockfish, collection of sea cucumbers, and collection of green urchins.

Physical, chemical, and other data from CTD and XBT casts from the KOFU MARU and other platforms from the Philippine Sea and other locations. Data were collected by the Japanese Hydrographic Office and the Maritime Safety Agency; Hydrographic Division (MSA) from 24 November 1971 to 28 December 1989. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Station Data II Output Format (SD2) and the Universal Bathythermograph Output Format (UBT). The SD2 file format is used for physical-chemical oceanographic data recorded at discrete depth levels. Most of the observations were made using multi-bottle Nansen casts or other types of water samplers. A small amount (about 5%), were obtained using electronic CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) or STD (salinity-temperature-depth) recorders. The CTD/STD data were reported to NODC at depth levels equivalent to Nansen cast data, however, and have been processed and stored the same as the Nansen data. Cruise information, position, date and time are reported for each station. Each station contains the measurements taken at observed depth levels, but also includes data values interpolated to a set of standard depth levels. The UBT format contains temperature-depth profile data obtained using expendable bathythermograph (XBT) instruments. Cruise information, position, date and time were reported for each observation. The data records are comprised of pairs of temperature-depth values. The XBT data files contain temperature values at originators defined depths. Standard XBTs can obtain profiles to depths of either 450 or 760 m. Special instruments permit measurements to be obtained to 1830 m. Data has been processed by NODC to the NODC standard Bathythermograph XBT Selected Depths (SBT) (C125) and Ocean Station (C100) formats. The Oceanographic Station Data (C100) format contains physical-chemical oceanographic data recorded at discrete depth levels. Most of the observations were made using multi-bottle Nansen casts or other types of water samplers. A small amount (about 5 percent) were obtained using electronic CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) or STD (salinity-temperature-depth) recorders. Meteorological conditions at the time of the cast (e.g., air temperature and pressure, wind, waves) may also be reported, as well as auxiliary data such as water color (Forel-Ule scale), water transparency (Secchi disk depth), and depth to bottom. Values of density (sigma-t) sound velocity, and dynamic depth anomaly are computed from measured parameters. Each station contains the measurements taken at the observed depth levels, but also includes data values interpolated to a set of standard depth levels.
