This dataset contains the results from the Outer Continental Shelf Study (OCS) Benchmark Study in the North Atlantic which ran from February 10 to March 7, 1977 from R/V GYRE. These ocean station data were submitted by Energy Resources Co., Inc. in fulfillment of BLM contract # AA550-CT6-51. This data contains eleven files with different file types and therefore different reference numbers. The following is a description of the files and a listing of the reference numbers: file 1 labeled L00998, L130 contains nutrient, temp, salinity and do data; file 2 labeled L00965, L513 contains %silt, %clay, %grain size, %carbon and %nitrogen in sediments data; files 3 and 4 labeled L00963, L521 contains taxonomic code, counts and egg/larvae data; file 5 labeled L00966, L134 contains metals in zooplankton, water, sediment and macrobenthos data; file 6 labeled L00967, L131 contains lipids, hydrocarbons in water, zooplankton, macrobenthos, sediment and surface film data; file 7,8,9 labeled L00968 contain macrobenthic taxonomic codes and counts.

This entry contains the results from the Outer Continental Shelf study (OCS) benchmark study in the North Atlantic which ran during the month of May 77 from the R/V GYRE. These data were submitted by Energy Resources Co., Inc. in fulfillment of BLM contract #AA550-CT6-51. This tape contains eleven files with different file types and therefore different reference numbers. A description of the files and a listing of the reference numbers is available. Documentation describes methods of observation and instruments used, units in which measurements are taken, including analytical methods and laboratory procedures used to analyze data.

The Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) and Bathythermograph (XBT) data were collected as part of Texas Institutions Gulf Ecosystem Research (TIGER) project. Data was collected from Ship GYRE cruises 95G02 & 95G03 and R/V ANTARES cruise 95A03. The data was collected over a period spanning from April 1, 1995 and June 18, 1995. Data was submitted on two diskettes by Dr. Douglas C. Biggs, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX.

Data were collected from Ship GYRE cruises 94G02, 94G03 and 94G05. The data were collected from May 11, 1994 to July 20, 1994. The accession contains Bathythermograph (XBT and Aerial XBT) data collected as part of Joint Global Ocean Flux Study (JGOFS) / North Atlantic Bloom Survey (NABS) in North Atlantic Ocean. The data was collected by Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL), National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA), and San Diego State University. NASA-P3 AXBT data (depth in meters and temperature in degrees celsius) was collected during the JGOFS/ North Atlantic Spring Bloom experiment. There are ten flights total, with header information included in the first record of each flight. This data was submitted in ASCII format on a 3-1/2" diskette. This data has been processed and is available in C118 Bathythermograph XBT Aircraft file format of NODC. Principal Investigator was Dr. Frank Hoge of NASA, Wallops Island. Five diskettes of bio-optical and AXBT data [legs 4 & 5] Bio-optical profiler data (up and downwelling of spectral irradiance and upwelling spectral radiance), ctd, and chlorophyll fluorescence data collected during leg-2, cruise 119 of the 1989 JGOFS/NABE (North American Spring Bloom experiment) cruise of the ATLANTIS II. The original data is on a 3 1/2" diskette in the form of 44-column comma-delimited ASCII files; There are 15 stations (files) total. Principal investigator was W. Joseph Rhea of Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology. 3100 bio-optical profiler data (smoothed irradiance and radiance data), temperature, and chlorophyll-a fluorescence data collected during cruise 119, leg 5, of the JGOFS/NABE R/V Atlantis cruise. Original data was submitted on 3-1/2" diskette in ASCII format. Principal investigator: Charles C. Trees of San Diego State University
