The Ocean Station Data from 17 stations; and Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) data from 49 casts were collected using ship Stark during cruises # 688-711. The data was collected from January 1, 1991 to December 31, 1991 in NW Atlantic (limit-40 W) by Bermuda Biological Station for Research, Inc. and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, MA. The Station S data was received by NODC via internet from George Heimerdinger.

Bathythermograph (XBT), water depth and other station data from unknown platforms and nine different ships collected from NE Atlantic (limit-40 W) from June 3, 1975 to November 20, 1984. Data was collected by Helgoland Biological Stations; University of Kiel, Kiel; Deutsches Hydrographische Institut, Hamburg; German Federal Research Center for Fisheries, Hamburg and Deutsches Ozeanographisches Datenzentrum, Hamburg. The data was submitted by Mr. C. Brockmann from Deutsches Ozeanographisches Datazentrum on November 13, 1985. The data is available in C116 format of NODC.

Temperature, salinity, and sound speed profiles were collected from CTD and XBT casts in the N Atlantic Ocean from 03 September 1982 to 04 October 1997. Data are a subset of the Master Oceanographic Observation Data Set (MOODS).

The Hi resolution conductivity, temperature and depth (CTD); Ocean Station data (OSD); Zooplankton; Bacteria; and Assorted Radiochemical data in this accession was collected as part of Bering & Pacific Russian/US Cooperative (BERPAC) Research Program between January 1 to December 31, 1993. Oceanographic Station Data contain physical and chemical oceanographic data recorded at discrete depth levels. The Oceanographic Station Data observations were made using multi-bottle Nansen casts or other types of water samplers. The data was submitted to NODC by Dr. Clifford P. Rice, United States Department of Agriculture.

The data was collected over a period spanning from July 14-18, 1993. Two files of CTD data was submitted by Nelson D. Sherry, Biology Department, University of Oregon, Eugene, OR via FTP.

The Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) and other data were collected in NW Atlantic (limit-40 W). Data was collected from Ship ENDEAVOR cruise 214. The data was collected over a period spanning from June 24, 1990 to July 7, 1990. Data was submitted in a tape by Dr. Robert Pickart, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, MA. Data has been processed and is available in F022-CTD-Hi Resolution file format of NODC. F022 High-resolution CTD data is collected from high resolution (conductivity-temperature-depth) instruments. As they are lowered and raised in the oceans, these electronic devices provide nearly continuous profiles of temperature, salinity and other parameters. Data values may be subject to averaging or filtering or obtained by interpolation and may be reported at depth intervals as fine as 1 m. Cruise and instrument information, position, date, time and sampling interval are reported for each station. Environmental data at the time of the cast (meteorological and sea surface conditions) may also be reported. The data record comprises values of temperature, salinity or conductivity, density (computed sigma-t) and possibly dissolved oxygen or transmissivity at specified depth or pressure levels. Data may be reported at either equally or unequally spaced depth or pressure intervals.

Hydrochemical, hydrophysical, and other data were collected from NOAA Ship OREGON II, ENDEAVOR, OCEANUS, NOAA Ship CHAPMAN, SEWARD JOHNSON, NOAA Ship DELAWARE II, and NOAA Ship ALBATROSS IV from June 9, 1991 to April 19, 1996. Data were submitted by Dr. Dave Mountain of US DOC; NOAA; NATIONAL MARINE FISHERIES SERVICE - WOODS HOLE. These data were collected using bottle casts in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean.

The Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD) and other data were collected over two years period spanning from January 14, 1993 to December 20, 1994 from ships R/V CAPE HATTERAS and WEATHERBIRD II cruises #735-786. Data from 34 CTD casts for 1993 and 38 casts for 1994 from Station-S was collected by Bermuda Biological Station for Research, Inc., Ferry Reach, Bermuda. Data was received via George Heimerdinger from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Woods Hole, MA.

This entry contains the results from the Outer Continental Shelf Study (OCS) benchmark study in the North Atlantic which ran May 5 to September 2, 1977 from the R/V GILLISS. These data were submitted by Energy Resources Co., Inc. in fulfillment of BLM contract # AA550-CT6-51.
