BT station and environmental data were collected during NOAA research cruises between 1949 and 1973 throughout the Pacific Ocean. Data collected include thermocline depth, sea surface temperature, air temperature, surface salinity, ten-meter temperature, wind direction and speed, barometer reading, weather, cloud type and amount, sea condition, visibility, secchi depth, and forel scale. The BT data were submitted to NCEI and are accessible through their website (https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/ ).

Station operations data were collected on cruises of NOAA R/V Townsend Cromwell, 1978 - 2002, NOAA R/V Oscar E Sette, 2003 and 2007, and Hokusei Maru, a Japanese research and training vessel, 1981 - 1983. Date, station number, latitude, longitude, and the operation(s) conducted at the station were recorded on the collection form.

This dataset contains nine sets of data. The cruises were conducted using many different ships. The bathythermograph (XBT) data was collected between August 9, 1987 and September 12, 1988. The data were sent from the cruise ships to the National Ocean Service, Rockville, MD via telecommunication. This data was submitted by Mr. Woodward E. William and is currently available in the C116 file format of NODC.

The Conductivity, Temperature and Depth (CTD); and other data were collected from eleven cruises conducted using four different ships from NW Atlantic (limit-40 W). The data was collected by National Marine Fisheries Service, Woods Hole, MA over a three year period spanning from June 19, 1986 to December 15, 1989. Originator's data submitted in a tape by Dr. David Mountain has been processed by NODC and is currently available in F022 file format of NODC.

These data include physical oceanographic (surface water temperature and salinity) and meteorological observations, which were collected from June 11 to November 20, 2001 aboard NOAA Ship TOWNSEND CROMWELL while it was underway in the North Pacific during cruises TC-01-07, TC-01-08, TC-01-09, and TC-01-11. Shipboard technicians submitted these data to NODC in support of the NOAA Shipboard Sensor Data Acquisition (NSSDAC) project.
