OA 2014-5 Dataset - Limited Entry and Open Access cost earnings survey collecting 2014-15 data
This project collects economic data from vessel owners participating in the West Coast limited entry fixed gear and open access groundfish, salmon, crab, and shrimp fisheries. The data is needed for a variaety of applicatoins, such as the NWFSC's regional economic model (IO-PAC) as well as estimating the profitability of fishery participants for applications such as the Pacific Fisheries Mangement Council's Groundfish Spex process. Major stages of the project include developing a survey questionnaire, devloping a contact list of all fishery participants with available contact information (name, address, phone number), obtaining approval for the survey from the Office of Management and Budget thorugh the Paperwork Reduction Act process, hiring a contractor to field the survey, training contractor personnel on how to field the survey, supervising survey fielding by the contractor, and working with the contractor to obtain an electronic data set containing survey results. Cost Earnings data from the 2014-5 Open Access survey.

Catcher Vessel Cost Earnings Data - Economic Data Collection for Monitoring the Economic Effects of the West Coast Groundfish Trawl Rationalization Program
공공데이터포털
This project was initiated in response to regulation 50 CFR 660.114, which mandates that economic data be collected from every participant in the trawl rationalization program. The data are collected annually from catcher vessels, catcher processors, motherships, first receivers, and shorebased processors through paper-based forms. The four forms (specific to entity type) are mailed annually in May, and collect data about the fishing, buying, and processing information from the previous year. The entity must submit their data by September 1 in order to renew their limited entry trawl permits, reissue their quota share, vessel accounts, and receive their first receiver site licenses. The data, reports, tech memos, and academic papers are used by Northwest Region staff, Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC), and headquarters staff to inform management decisions, and to monitor the effects of the program. Cost earnings data for catcher vessels in trawl rationalization program.

Guam Exploratory Survey Data
공공데이터포털
These datasets contain information on contracted fishing trips for an exploratory analysis of the feasibility of a fishery-independent bottomfish survey in Guam. Fishing occurred in 2012 and 2014 on Galvez bank using similar research-fishing practices to the exploratory fishing surveys done in the Main Hawaiian Islands. The data contain information on trip, catch, and effort. The trip specific data contains information on fisher and vessel, observer (person who entered the data), the port trip started in, start time and day and end time and day of trip, the fishing area, and species targeted. The effort data contains information on fishing set up including the number of hooks, species targeted, rigging type, bait used, drift and anchor usage, and time spent fishing; as well as environmental information including wave height, depth, current and wind speed. The catch data contains vessel identification, location, date, the species caught and their length, and whether gonads or the head were saved for reproductive and age measurments.

Fisheries One Stop Shop Public Data 2009 - Present
공공데이터포털
The purpose of the Fisheries One-Stop-Shop (FOSS) is to make fisheries dependent information readily available to fisheries managers, scientists and the American public at a national as well as regional level. Collection and management of fisheries dependent data are distributed throughout NOAA Fisheries, State Fisheries, management agencies and regional Fisheries Information Networks (FINs). The distributed nature of NOAA Fisheries information systems, differences in collection authorities and confidentiality requirements increases the importance of this flexible technical architecture that can meet the changing needs for information at national, regional and local levels of resolution. At the same time, the technical architecture is scalable to meet enterprise wide requirements for management of other types of fisheries data and fisheries independent data. Currently available via FOSS are the summarized, non-confidential, annual Commercial Landings by state as provided through the Atlantic Coastal Cooperative Statistics Program (ACCSP), the Gulf of Mexico Fisheries Information Network (GulfFIN). Recreational Landings estimates are available and provided via NMFS Headquarters. In FY2011, FOSS will be expanded to include all commercial landings nationally.
