Data consists of ship drift data collected using drifting buoys from six merchant ships, collected for the German Oceanographic Data Center (Deutsches Ozeanographisches Datenzentrum). Each ship cruise is on a different file and each has a different reference number. File L00918 = Ship Sidney Express, voyage 53 conducted in November 1982 in Indian ocean. File L00919 = Ship Esso Europa voyage conducted in June 1981 in Gulfs of Thailand and Iran. File L00920 = Ship Discovery, no year in NE Atlantic. File L00921 = Ship Esso Deutchland voyage conducted in July 1980 in Equatorial Atlantic (TOGA area). File L00922 = Ship Hamburg express, voyage 90 conducted in July-August 1989 in Indian Ocean. File L00923 = Ship Veba voyage conducted in January-March 1983 in Arabian Sea.

CURRENT - DIRECTION and Other Data from UNKNOWN From World-Wide Distribution from 1935-01-01 to 1978-12-31 (NCEI Accession 8800247)
공공데이터포털
This data set contains NODC station data spanning from January 1935 to December 1978. The data set contains quality controlled station data profiles for standard levels, in non-NODC format, reporting temperature, salinity, and oxygen. The first file contains computer program documentation for reading the other nine data files. This data set was compiled by Sid Levitus at the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory ERL/NOAA.
Current direction data from moored current meter casts in the North Atlantic Ocean 1975-07-09 to 1976-11-01 (NCEI Accession 8300078)
공공데이터포털
Current direction data were collected using moored current meter casts in the North Atlantic Ocean from July 9, 1975 to November 1, 1976. Data were submitted by National Ocean Service (NOS). Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Current Meter Data (F005) format. The F005 format is used for time series measurements of ocean currents obtained using moored current-measuring instruments, principally Aanderaa current meters (manufactured by Aanderaa Instruments Inc.). These data represent the Eulerian method of current measurement, i.e., the meters are deployed at a fixed mooring point and measure flow past the sensor. Position, water depth, and sensor depth are reported for each station. The data record comprises values of current direction and speed at specified date and time. Data values may be subject to averaging or filtering and are typically reported at 10-15 minute time intervals. Other environmental parameters may also be reported. These include: water temperature, salinity, conductivity, and transmissivity; wind direction and speed; and dominant wave direction, height, and period. These data is a description of the Bauer-Robinson Numerical Atlas version VIII which contains temperatures for the surface layer for all ocean basins except the Arctic and temperatures and salinities for deep oceans in the Northern Hemisphere from 1928 to 1981. These originators tapes were prepared by Compass systems, Inc. and are currently available online in the current NODC data storage system. Included in the DDF is a reference list of where this data set has been published. These data were collected in association with NSI grants.
